That's just like asking why do we believe in anything we believe in. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Not everything needs an explanation.

there are two conflicting sets of beliefs here: 1) Ghosts 2) Physics
Who said ghosts had to obey the laws of physics?

It's just not very pragmatic to believe in ghosts.
I have already pointed this out.

Whether or not you NEED something is whether or not it's practical to you, but everything in essence, is explainable whether or not you want to know how it is or not.

It's only pragmatic to believe in ghosts if you're too lazy to learn enough to find the more sensible solution.

So you're trying to say that I'm lazy just because I believe in ghosts?

Well, I meant more like uninformed. Read up on some science: intro texts on chemistry, thermodynamics, and some classical physics; this kind of stuff tends to really mellow out superstition.

I doubt it would change my mind about the existence of ghosts. I've had a lot of other things convince me otherwise, and not just "hearing the house creak or make noises on its own."
