Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bIrWryFc7A
Scheduled to release October this year, only on the Nintendo 3DS.
The graphics look boss of course, but the Pokémon designs... eh. The Y legendary (which I'm assuming is the red one), looks like an overvamped evolution of Mandibuzz, and the other reminds me of some Arceus/Dialga/Stantler crossbreed. o_O; And the starters...
But, I'll admit, that I had the same sort of skepticism with Black and White and their sequels, but ended up thoroughly enjoying them. So maybe X and Y will have its own charms, aside from the 3D graphics...? I guess only more time and trailers will tell. So long as the games aren't just region-specific (where only Pokémon from that region/generation could be encountered until after the E4), I don't think I'd mind too much.
Either way though, these are the games that'll most likely finally put the 3DS up there with the other handhelds.

So what does AF think? Excited for the 3DS games?

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
I heard about this first thing today. What I think? It pretty much advanced and revolitionzed pokemon, which is a good thing. (although the names could use some work, but at least it's something new from the colors and gems).
I guess to follow my Pokemon routine, I would have to import a Japanese 3DS and just hope by October, it gets hacked (cause it will) so I can isntall some Gecko Os and get the US version when it comes out.

I know that all three will come in October but not all of them comes literally "at the same time".
Japan may get them a few days earlier.
Gotta take advantage of which one comes first cause Youtube pretty much.

Yeah, but there's still the thing of international shipping which might make the few days difference negligible.

It's called Day 1. Always order my games Day 1 and arrived either a day early or the exact day as the Japanese release date.
Dun Curr about the price, tbh.

Ah, wasn't sure that worked shipping internationally.

Yup, there's different shipping options and Fedex Overnight is the best bet..it even arrives first thing they go out for delivery. I get most of my games at 6-8AM.
Only time it arrives after the desired time if it's they screw up big time. Like they did with me, my friend and a lot of people who imported Final Fantasy Type-0,

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
I am so getting both X and Y, considering my brother will be playing the other. lol.

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
I saw the trailer last night.
Needless to say I haven't really been interested in Pokemon since HG/SS (I lost the cart though, somehow.... somehow?? I somehow have Mario Kart DS in my DSi! >_>) so this one at least caught my attention.
However, unless a '3DS XL' or something exists by October (by that I mean they make the damn screens bigger, because eyesight), then I probably won't get it. Also it depends on the price of a 3DS itself since I don't even own a 3DS and there hasn't really been any reason for me to get one thus far.

Oh Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac... a 3DS XL has existed for a while.
I really want this but I still need to buy a 3DS, I regret getting a Vita for Christmas now though... plus I still haven't even played Black/White!

Just proves how few damns I've given and how totally compelled I have not been with regards to Nintendo's products over the past few years.
I would probably get the XL. Probably. I would need more incentive than just Pokemon in order to buy one, really.

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
Not a fan of the new Pokemon at all. They don't look cool to me. =/ But after seeing the trailer for Pokemon X and Y. It looks cool enough to give it a try when it comes out. Though, i'd need to get a 3DS. xD

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
All that trailer showed is a new camera angle. Still going to be the same formula outside that. Hung up the pokieballs with Diamond. Unless they do something drastic I'm still not going to bother. A new angle isn't some big new change. Especially since it was only ever done because of the 3DS.

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
If I had a 3DS I'd be pre-ordering the hell out of one (probably X). But, I'm not going to buy a 3DS to play it. I personally like the fire and grass starters, and the games are bound to have their own gems, even if some are derpy, just like in Black/White.
(Also, lol, funny how this news come out just as I start a new game on my Yellow.)

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
For the first time in a long time I'm really excited for a Pokemon game. My brother has a 3DS so I'll probably just share.
I've been playing Fire Red lately. I don't really mind that it's the same thing over and over again that much, but I want to see the new camera angle and graphics so I can go sdnjdbfjormciogiuivombisx,o;oijz;ohfvb bdfbsl!!!! every time something happens haha.

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
It's too bad it's exclusively for the 3DS.
XY is like the only reason why I plan on buying a 3DS eventually, and also Harvest Moon: ANB.

Well, you can't blame them for making it exclusively for the 3DS; it's Nintendo's current-time modern handheld, and they're going to do it in order to get people who own a DS/DSi but not a 3DS to upgrade to their current handheld. Also considering the 3DS is better in terms of graphics capability then they probably want to fully utilize that little powerhouse they have in there; that's why they made a big deal out of the uber-3D-graphics that they did in that trailer.
I'm still uncertain on getting a 3DS though; I found my old DSi XL (and my copy of Pokemon SS <_>) so ... well, I'm happy I unearthed the thing from under several weeks' worth of Mountain Dew bottles (so sue me, they're there because I recycle them in bulk - I am NOT walking 40 minutes to the recycling point to dump 1 bottle.) I mean I know they're making Smash 4 for the 3DS too, but aside from that I'm still not sold.
Isn't there a 3DS mario platformer game? I should really Wiki this junk to see what games to pick up if I do get one (and it's gonna be the XL one, because screw all that DPI crap, I just want the big screen.)

Re: Pokémon Version X and Y (GEN VI)
While I would most certainly disagree with them releasing any further Pokemon games on the DS (let the console die already!), it does make me question why they're releasing this on the 3DS when the graphics are DS level.
I am serious, though. The battle graphics look great, but the field graphics look...bad. They're on a similar level to Phantom Hourglass, which was a 2.5D Zelda game on the DS. Perhaps I'm just crazy, but I want a REAL 3D Pokemon game. It looks like they persist on taking baby steps. Now we've got a 2D world designed in 3D with a new perspective. I want a 3D world in 3D.

Considering how vast a game such as pokemon is (and consider how many individual models, textures, animations, sounds, environments, sprites, etc, etc they have to put into the game) they're probably trying to compromise between having good graphics everywhere and having the game fun to play.
Personally the gameplay must come before the graphics, so if the overworld looks a little bleh but the gameplay itself is tight then I can't complain. It may also be that the trailer was an alpha build and given time the overworld graphics might be improved, but it's probably just an issue with the amount of memory all the graphics are actually taking up when you consider Pokemon is a -pretty big- game.
-shrug.-
One thing though: one thing. It's obvious they've run out of things to name it with. What are they going to call the next games? Pokemon alpha/beta? >_> likely.

I think they went with X and Y since its the first 3D game [the obvious 3rd game in the system will be Z, all of which are points on a 3D plane]. So realistically I think its clever how they named the new games

Lots of fans think its gonna be a new "light" type or a flying type based on how much it resembles Skyla, a flying gym leader
