Just saw this awesome animated, NOT Japanese, movie
I watched this a couple days ago. The name of the cartoon is Starchaser The Legend of Orin. Epic American made cartoon (back when American cartoons were epic) and pretty much a plot like in an anime, without the anime drawing style. It had violence, it had characters that actually died, it had swearing, it had an attractive android woman, it even had some suggestive humor, and it had a hero with magic powers and an energy sword. It definitely is like PG-13 material, not a kids cartoon. It's got all the stuff you'd expect to see in an anime, but this was from the US, not Japan. It was made back in the 1980s from what I understand. Here's box art from the modern DVD release of it.

BIG SPOILER, DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING BEFORE WATCHING IT!

Don't bump, if you don't get a reply it's because no one is interested in the thread. Not to mention this could easily go in a blog. And America has plenty of great animated movies.

Do you, by chance, remember origina/first The Land before Time?

Every show deserves its own discussion thread. That's the purpose of this thread. It has its place.

Unlike Starchaser the Legend of Orin which is indeed a great animated movie appropriate for most ages above like 12 or 13 (I say this because some of the content is actually not kid friendly), the Land Before Time is just a kids cartoon, as are MOST cartoons made in the US.

Really, you're trying to trash a movie meant for kids with a movie meant for a bit more mature audiences. That shows a lot of class.

Yes, oh the nostalgia is most pleasurable. However, I can't remember which one they're on. Something about a migration, perhaps?

Remembered the name wrong, was Littlefoot. >.< And it's 13. Thought the migration happened in the first one. Haven't watched since number five or so.

I remember them migrating to the great valley in #1. The last advertisement I remember was for the great long-neck migration. However, the last one I watched/remember was the star of cold fire? Anyways, they were a good bunch of old films~

Wont find any argument from me, outside of possibly the fact it's now at 13. But who knows they could still be well done so it's a don't knock till you try it deal.

Except you haven't stated what we are supposed to discuss. Okay, you saw a movie from the mid-80s that (SHOCKER!!) has violence and mild language, is a rather blatant rip-off of Star Wars (which is, to be honest, a rip-off of a billion other things) and hasn't aged well, usually liked and watched only by those who need to have their sense of nostalgia stroked every now and then.
So...what? Are we discussing this obscure as hell movie or something else? I will admit, I did like the movie once upon a time and as far as kid's movies go, there was crazy stuff going on in that movie (sexual innuendo, violent-as-hell deaths, etc).
But now that I have said that, there's not much to discuss.:closedeye

VG555: This is animeforum. Not westernanimationforum. Animes get their own threads (in the anime sections, not misc).
Also, seeing as how this thread just states information without really opening for any sort of discussion, this belongs in your blog.
