What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
When I was a kid I did Tae-Kwon-Do. I was involved until I moved to Australia when I had a blue belt with red tip.
Here in Australia I practiced Tang-Soo-Do for a while but my injured knee wouldn't let me continue.
This Monday I am going for my first day at Kendo. So hopefully it will be fun.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I too practice Tang-Soo-Do and Kendo. I've been into Kendo for about 10 years now and Tang-Soo-Do for about 2 years on and off because of a knee injury. I just recently got back into Tang-Soo-Do and I love it, I forgot how just how much fun it was.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I did TKD when I was a kid, and we moved about a month before my test for red belt. Then there were two browns and black. I wish I could go back and finish but I just can't afford it.
I'd like to try Kendo.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I started both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jujitsu about 6 months ago and I'm loving ever minute of it. I would like to learn a kung fu style as well as kendo or the sword style Miyamoto Musashi created using two swords.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I would like to learn Kung Fu, Aikido, Judo, Karate, and Tae Kwon Do. I'm not really sure if arnis is recognized as a martial art but I'll just put that too.
Our P.E. teacher knows lots of martial arts. He taught us some basic Tae Kwon Do. Arnis was also taught to us.

It has been 3 years since I have done Tang-Soo-Do and watching my friend spar the other day made me remember how fun martial arts has been so I signed up for Kendo.

Yeah the price for some martial arts are really high. I'm lucky that it is going to be $60/month for Kendo and I don't have to buy the equipment straight away.

Are you planning on doing MMA after? Most of the people who I've met and are doing BJJ and Muay Thai/Boxing usually go to MMA for fun after.
I might be wrong but I think in Kendo you are allowed to use two swords and that is similar to the style Musashi created.

I never heard of Arnis before but Wikipedia says it the Filipino national martial arts and sport. At P.E. a few years ago we were taught Karate but I couldn't participate because of my knee.

I went to a Tae Kwon Do taster session sometime last year. Although it was a lot of fun and really interesting, I couldn't afford to go at the time.
There's a place doing classes just a 2 minute walk from my house, so I may check it out and see if I would be able to go.

It is Filipino. :) I'm so glad to hear that it's considered as a martial art. I hope your knee is better now.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I wanted to learn Kendo and Tai Chi...and the way of the monk. =(
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I used to practice martial arts. The styles I briefly learned are: Wing Chun, Uechi-ryu Karate (stopped about half way to black belt), MMA, and a few years after that, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. It's cool to know AF has some aspiring martial artists here. Anyways, I wish I could go back, but my Wing Chun teacher moved to Hong Kong (plus, he was not a good teacher), and the Karate school moved to another town :( There's only one other place in town, but they have lousy senseis and apparently, you can get your black belt in either Karate or Tae Kwon Do there for about $100 without training. No lie. Oh yeah, I've always wanted to try any form of sword fighting lol.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I'm interested in Taekwondo (been interested in it ever since I saw how Hwoarang from Tekken kicks), kungfu, kendo and karate (influenced by my dad who was a karate fighter. Said it was a really strong and effective style if you know how to use it correctly).
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
i would like to learn kung fu and taijutsu
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
Uhm, I took a karate course thing one time.
So I'm technically a second degree white belt. lol
I'd like to learn Tae Kwon Do. That'd be cool.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
My grandad taught me some basic military fighting techniques when i was a kid. If i could learn some martial arts, i wish i could learn Hapkido, Tae Kwan-Do, Kyokushin Karate, Muay Thai, Capoiera, Escrima(Philipino stick/knife fighting), Brazilian Jujiitsu, Ninjitsu, Kendo, and of course Wing Chun. Unfortunately i can't afford it.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I've spent about 11 years studying Kenpo, dabbled in Judo, Jujuitsu, Savate, and Muay Thai, and several weapons such as Nunchaku, Katana, Staff, Knife, etc.
It's been fun but I've been out of martial arts for almost a year now with money being tight and my dojo closing down.
I'd love to learn German Longsword though. Most people tend to not realize that Europe has a slew of martial arts as well, it was just forgotten with the onset of firearms. However, their making a comeback now that people have been finding to old martial codexes that have been rotting in the library archives.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
Always wanted to learn Muay Thai and Aikido.
I had signed up for an MMA class a few semesters back, the instructor collected our money, then left town the next night...
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I want to learn bartitsu.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
Got a quick introduction to Jujitsu during Basic Training, but it was cursory so I can’t claim any in-depth knowledge of it. Regards to D-V-L for bringing up European martial arts, as I participate in collegiate Fencing (Foil primarily).
Though it is a sport, it is nevertheless placed under the overarching label of Western Martial Arts. I highly recommend it, but I must confess that I would be more confident in a fight if I wielded skills in the aforementioned martial arts disciplines most of you have already mentioned.
Ah, and I have to thank Eris for the resurgence of fond Sherlock Holmes memories in light of the interest in bartitsu.
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
Just had my first lesson of Kendo. The instructor put me with the beginner and advanced class so I can catch up. One of the assistants uses 2 swords so that was pretty cool
Re: What Martial Arts do you practice/want to practice?
I've studied and trained some in ninjutsu, but I would like to be trained in kung fu as well.
