Do you like it? I don't. I think it sperates homosexuals from the rest of the world, like we're our own race or something. We're NOT! We just happen to like the same sex is all. Anyway, what do you guys think?

I didn't realise gays had a flag... how... weird
Yep. It's one big rainbow.
NOW YOU KNOW!
Which is, as they say, half the battle.
I don't see a problem really, I just think you guys should have to have a rainbow symbol on all your houses and shops, that's all. No need to separate you all from the rest of the world, silly.
And on further thought, as I imagine the bad reps rolling in, is that if you all didn't have this symbol, there would be a fair number whining and crying that you should have one to identify your "uniqueness" - so what is it then? You have a symbol, either use it or don't but don't complain about having one.
I don't see the point. If people want to go so far as to create a flag as a symbol to separate themselves from people as a whole, what's the purpose of asking for "acceptance"? The flag's a bit counterproductive, I think.
Also, do straight people get a flag now? Because, this seems rather unfair.
If we get a flag, I nominate a giant fist clenching the world!
I don't know about straight people in general, but I know my people get their own flag.
So, correct me if i'm wrong. The gay community has been restricted the rights to having marriage which segregates them from others. So the whole point is that they want unifaction. But they make a flag for themselves which increases the gap of getting it. Right?
I agree. Having a flag to celebrate your uniqueness is sending the message that you want to be treated as a seperate class, which then just further drives people to thinking how different gay people are.
If we get a flag, maybe it'll come in just one colour?lol.
lol i think its kinda funny. But really like i think its bad and good well not good but not bad... like bad is that you shouldnt seperate somone like that. I guess not bad cause really it doesnt matter. Just means you have your own flag, be proud.
I would love to see Kathy Freeman wave it at the next Olympics.
I was unaware that gay people had their own country, and if they don't they should[/sarcasm]
It's just something that gays can identify with, not something to separate themselves from the rest of the world. It's really open to interpretation. A militant gay might use it to completely separate himself from the rest of the world, another might use it to feel closer to his community while not alienating himself from the world.
I think all flags are stupid for that very reason. ... except for the evil flag.
....that flag is totally gay.
On a serious note, I think the flag is stupid. And in order to be completely fair, straights need a flag too. And we should have freakin' white history month! =o
If they gay flag is of a rainbow, then it must be refering to the 'happy' connotation of the word.
You mean happy denotation? >.> Because...that used to be the real definition until we screwed it up. And why does a rainbow automatically mean happy?
There's nothing wrong with flags it's just a way to announce who you represent (I've been hanging around xyplex too long) without having to actually say anything.
Not, really. You don't need to go as far as a Flag to show yourself off. Gay people are identifiable from miles away as they are. And just because they don't have a Flag, it doesn't mean they're not proud; because if they weren't, they wouldn't be gay at all. As stated before, it only marks them more as Different than Equal, like most symbols/behaviors/pretexts do.
Also, since when did they invent the Rainbow? You mean my kids at kindergarden are gay when they scribble a rainbow on a piece of paper? You mean to tell the rain is gay? You mean leprechauns are gay, as well as their gold? Is the greek god, Iris, gay? Is "Over the Rainbow" the new gay anthem? Was the Wizard of Oz a homosexual?
Don't quite think so...
How's about it if Al-Quaeda set "the Smile" as their new symbol?
"Son, every time you smile, you enforce global terrorism."
I love the flag because it's rainbow-ie.
As for it pointing out homo or bisexuals, I dunno.
Usually, they're proud of their orientation
I have to say, the gays are especially colorful in flag design. Which is unfair. Why must we associate rainbows with homosexuals? Although rainbows are fairly fruity... And for that matter, why must skittles taste like various fruits? Are skittles trying to be gay?
Also on the subject of gay representation, why is it LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi, trans)? It seems that separating lesbians and gay men is tedious and pointless. "Homo" means "same" and "sexual" is self-explanatory, so the term homosexual means "of the same sex." Therefore, can't we just call it HBT?
Oh wait, I see my own flaw. H could be misunderstood as heterosexual... Easily fixed! We could call it the HoBT! Although, we are back at the original problem of the acronym being four letters again, which is what I am trying to correct. Wait, I think I see a way around this.
Bisexuals are nothing but myths. Bisexuals are either guys that are completely out or girls that want attention. We simple eliminate them from the mix. That way we are left with HoT! Hot! Homosexuals and transsexuals. That's hot. Get it? I'm such a genius.
