Queen Emeraldas Wallpaper

Trying a new style here. I know it still needs a lot of work, but I think it's a step up from the swirls.

Just because I'm really THAT much of a leiji fangurl. Thats just Emeraldas, the Queen Emeraldas is her space ship built for her by Tochiro. Although Emeraldas is technically a princess, she gave up her royalty at the planet Andromeda when her mother, Queen Millennia, made everyone adopt machine bodies to survive the cold. She now lives as a pirate with her best friend Harlock. Her lover is Tochiro but he died and infused his spirit into Harlock's ship the Arcaida. She flies a blood red pirate flag, which is painted with the blood of Harlock's lover Maya who died.

I have issues, I know this...

This wallpaper is rather good as a picture but it lacks what you would usually like to see in a wallpaper. Me, for example, is looking for a wallpaper that has nice colors, pleasant for the eye. Since I stare into the computer screen all day, it is important my wallpaper doesn't have strong, contrasting colors like this one. At the same time, you have to take desktop icons into consideration. Because of their size they can easily get lost into backgrounds of such nature. For this reason, the background should be rather minimalistic and clean with a static color that doesn't change too much. Icons are also located to the left of the screen for most systems, which means the main character should be positioned to the right or center, if you are making it for Mac systems. This way, your character won't be covered by them in most cases.

I hope this gives you enough guidelines about how a wallpaper should be and help you improve. :)

@Arrancar Grimmjow Cool wallpaper, Grimmjow. It's reminiscent of the anime Macross. I wonder if both japanimes have the same creator/mangaka?

No they do not have the same creator/mangaka. Leiji was making his anime/manga well before macross ever was created. His original concepts are from the 1960's/1970's.
