Reputation is something you get from other members. When you post something that they might have liked/disliked or agreed/disagreed with, they can either give you good (green) or bad (red) rep. They really don't mean much. It's just one option the forum gives you to thank or let others know you liked their post and whatnot. It doesn't really affect your time on the forum unless you have bad reputation. In that case, people tend to assume things and wonder why so many people thought you to be a bad person. But I doubt that'll be a problem. You don't seem like a bad person at all!
