I want to learn how to draw anime eyes like the ones
in Ouran High School Host Club.

But what should i trace?

Can you give me tips on how to
draw the eyes?

Do you find it easier to use references? Or have you ever tried tracing a pose? I wonder if DAZ would would work on a tablet?

I really like the pirate'esque sketch you posted...very different look. And if you color, take your time...it really helps.

Oh, yeah it wouldn't surprise that prostitutes were used as models. Cheaper, for the artist and the fact that they like getting nude. lol

What you said about manga art is exactly what I'm talking about. There maybe 1 maybe 2 things that may be different in a particular artists style. But, it may not be enough to make it different from someone else's. I want my style to be unique, that when someone sees it they recognize without seeing my name on the cover. Miyazaki has that style, so does Joe Mad, Manabe, and Campbell. As for thinner lines, I use a .03 mechanical pencil and a .005 pen liner, if scanning for digital editing also I scan at 300 dpi, larger file but easier for cleaning and inking.

Depending on the drawing I'm doing, it can take a few days. Since I work full time, it's hard devoting all my attention to that drawing. Plus, if it's a sketching and I'm having trouble...I'll leave it for a few days a come back to it when inspiration hits me.
