I know what you mean, LOL. I usually prefer reading novels. And prefer anime over manga when buying 'em. But if the library has the complete series of a manga, then I'll check it out and read it. My main reasoning is, if I buy manga, I have to buy like 2-3 volumes at a time since I often zip thru a issue. That can get expensive, thus why I usually go for very short series. And for the price of 2 or 3 mangas, I can buy 1 or 2 complete anime series depending on the price.

Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. From what I've seen on the library catalog, they have up to Volume 18, I think. But would have to look it up online to be sure. As is, it and SGT. Frog are the longest manga series I've read yet. I prefer shorter series, especially if I'm buying them.
