Oh okay. Interesting. Well, I study a lot of late period stuff since its my focus in grad school as I endeavor towards a professorship. I work a lot in egypt mostly dealing with the category known as "Gnosticism" (something I'm currently trying to deconstruct).

Yeah I knew it was research when I saw it. I haven't studied the Orphic sects myself but I study the late antique period when such things like the Greek Magical Papyri were being written so I have some passing familiarity with them. I chose to do my Independent Study project on the Mithras sect instead so but the syncretic nature of the time period means there is a lot of cross pollination between the mythos. I just figured you were a fluent greek speaker and showing of your chops (I would if I was fluent).

My family has always been well rounded. Not so much on the Asian side until my mom got into Chinese medicine and learned to speak Chinese.
Yes, Szechuan is Chinese. It's southern food over there. Incredibly hot.
I've never had the chance to try Vietnamese food. Sounds interesting though, with the flower in it. I miss Tai food. I haven't had it in a really long time.
You should see Chicago at least once. It'd be a good time to see your friend. Michigan Ave is a fun walk with lots of nice things to see.
I love the sea, damn shame I'm fairly scared of it xD I like to think it's a healthy fear.

It's amazing what kind of food you can get used to. I'll never forget the first time I had Szechuan food. That stuff is HOT
I'll have to take my friends to the local Korean Marekts. Nice thing about being around Chicago is that I can always find an Asian food market.

Yes that beach is a state park actually. It's the island of Cayo Costa right between Port Charlotte and the Gulf of Mexico. No one was there and you can camp on the beach so long as your fire is near the water line.
