First off: it's never to late!
Second: there is nothing pathetic with looking around online for a girlfriend. Even if I am a social person I would almost prefer that, because.... well... how much chance is it that you actually find a "love" interest out in a bar? Maybe you will find someone to stay the night with but that's also about it. Everything is to drunk to have a nice conversation with, so you miss the people that you actually would click with. What Im saying is that internet is not a bad thing for these things. It's not pathetic. Years ago internet dating pages had more of that label stamped on them but nowdays people are seeing the more and more usefulness of it and more and more are using pages like that.

Even if you are a little skeptical.. why not trying it? You are good with words.
It's either that or going out IRL and asking someone out.
