Mm I don't get much chance to practice guitar either. My sister throws a fit whenever I touch hers, even though it's just sitting in the corner of her room gathering dust. I play on my brother's acoustic now and then but not enough to really improve much. As for sight-reading, I can't really do either staff or tabs when it comes to guitar. xD; I mostly just play by ear. My sis has a tabs chart poster in her room, so if I got serious I'd probably be able to get the hang of it.
Ueeeh, so jealous. So I'm guessing you got your interest in music from your parents eh? My sister has an acoustic but she never uses it. It's sad. If I had my own instrument I know I'd be on it constantly, annoying everyone in the household by belting out Michael Jackson songs. Twas standard procedure when I rented out the Bb Clarinet and Alto Sax. I even managed to convince some of the band to play them with me at football games and whatnot. Good times. :'3 Ya I'm decent on a 4 reed, but when I know I'm gonna be playing deeper notes I usually slide down to a 3 or 3½. I really do need to get into the habit of practicing more with a 4 though.
Well I'll stay at Bb Clarinet, at least I hope to. Bass clarinet is fun too though, as well as oboe and Alto sax. Never played tenor. I'd love to try out a Contrabass though. We had one in Middle School and it was beautiful. *-* And thanks for the good luck. It'll be a while before I get a chance to schedule it but I'm looking forward to it. Wow you actually have those instruments? O.O I've had to rent mine. If I buy something I plan on it being the best of the best (perfectionism ftw?) so it's bound to cost a ton. No way I'm settling with a plastic clarinet; I couldn't even stand them after grade school. Gotta have thick reeds too, at least a 3. I'm wanting to try my hand at a strings instrument, preferably cello, but even renting one would burn an instantaneous hole through my wallet... Guitar is fun, but I just don't have the dexterity and durability with my fingers to do much more than play a few simple songs by ear. Lol. Can't even read chords. >_>;
I've asked Air Force and my sister decided to ask her Navy recruiter, and they both said that I'd have to find another treatment other than pills. Now if I had the medical benefits from being with the military, I'm sure that would be possible. But not before. Blech. The pills I take now work fantastic anyway, so I doubt I'd be interested in getting one of those brain surgeries which could easily screw me up in other ways, and permanently. Yeahno. I play woodwinds and piano mostly. Some other percussion here and there but not as proficiently as piano. Clarinet is my main though, been playing for 10 years. If all goes well I plan on buying a good brand one within the next few years and then maybe transferring to Fresno State in CA. Their Marching Band is seriously awesome. *^* /bandnerdgasm. So is there anything you play?
Fabulous, then.
That's fine with me, as long as it's about 7 PM Rocky Mountain Time we post it as I will be late coming home that day.
o: Does anywhere from this Friday - Wednesday sound like a good time for you for the sign up thread?
='D It would have been awesome to be apart of it. Towards the end of my senior year some members of the Marine Corps Band visited and handed out flyers for recruitment. I passed the audition (somehow) and everything, but I was DQ'd from MEPS because I had to tell them about an anti-seizure medication that I take regularly. I guess you can't take pills during basic, so I was disqualified right then and there. ;___; Felt bad man. But I'm still band nerdin', yeahyeah. Currently posting from my college Music Hall LOL.
You got injured; what happended?
