Well caste system still dominates. The higher the caste is the lower is your preference in college. If you don't score good marks, no college admission. But I think job is about how well you perform in college and you interview.
Well there is no blind date sort of thing. The guy ans his family visit the girl's house. If both the boy,the girl and their respective families agree, they take their so called astrological book to their family astrologer and get his consent.(They check for their astrological match, if it is positive the marriage takes place else it is dropped.) After that the usual engagement and wedding takes place and of course the girls family has to pay a dowry. This is what happens in my religion and cast.
