So, there's this new browser called Rockmelt (http://www.rockmelt.com/), it's a "proprietary social media web browser", that's built on Chrome's engine, and was published for early-access on Nov 8th of this month. It also isn't the first of it's kind (see Flock (http://www.flock.com/).)

Upon watching the video, couldn't really help but notice that:

1. The ad tries way too hard to sound/look like a Mac ad.
2. It's based on chromium (which is open-source), but they didn't really do much to make it not look like chrome - the tab bar, right down to the star for adding bookmarks, is exactly the same. All they seem to have done was added "share" buttons, and a search bar. But these can already be added to google chrome via extensions. They could have at least tried to make it a tad different.
3. So ... why do we need a social networking browser? what's wrong with opening facebook and twitter ... in your existing browser?

As it's just "early access" (and you need an invitation to download), they may add new features later on, but I don't know, i'm not really impressed so far.

Opinions/thoughts?

Well, because it's an early-access I'm pretty sure it's going to be full of bugs.

And yeah, I agree with your #3.

But in a nutshell, do not want!

In my opinion, they should focus more on the aspects of the browser that make it unique, not the things that make it the same (what you can already do on any other browser - login to facebook and Twitter to see and post updates.)

They don't focus on what's exclusive to Rockmelt itself quite enough. I would like to know what makes it unique and why I should download it, besides the fact that it will tell me exactly when Susie bought toliet paper 3 seconds faster.

I would really like an invitation so I can at least judge it's performance, because it could have these *cough*appealing*cough* features but if it's performance is mediocre then, like i said, Do not want.
