dbz...and yes i was like :" what type of cartoon is this it's so different from all the other cartoon network and Disney ones"<--at age 6 i didn't found out till 6 years later when i was first introduce to naruto then i searched and found bleach, death note and so on and so on. and i am proud to say that i love anime it became my life and i will always look forward to new titles.

We would watch it so much that my dad still refers to anything that looks like anime as "SailorMoon". But before Sailor Moon there was Thundercats but I'm not sure if that counts. I really loved Thundercats it was so awesome before Sailor Moon came around.

I was not fan of anime series from Kiddo . My interest of watching anime series has arose by my girlfriends before three year ago. Actually, When She knew, i don't like to watch Anime show, then she laugh at me and then recommend my to Watch Bleach episodes and i really the anime storyline of this series. Actually it was according to my taste of watching other tv show. After enjoy out of queue storyline of Bleach episodes, i addicted to watch bleach episodes. Hmm first anime goes way back to the old days. I watched DBZ/Pokémon & Digimon (lol) when I was a kid, but I don't really count them as anime tbh. I did have an older brother who watched anime (Sailor moon), but I was too young at that time to actually care. My real anime love started about 2 years ago with Naruto, wich opened the way to more and better anime for me. I did enjoy it, but looking back at it now it's actually not as good as other stuff I've seen now, but it has a big "emotional" (lolwut?) value to me.

My first foray into anime began with shows like Pokemon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher. I was more into the latter two, especially Monster Rancher. Then it was stuff on Toonami- before it sold out big time! Stuff like Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, Dragon Ball Z, Rurouni Kenshin, and Outlaw Star (still love it!). Sailor Moon was a guilty pleasure of sorts. I'll get into that later :D

I remember the first time I watched Fist of the North Star. I was staying up late one night after my parents went to bed, and I stumbled upon it while I was channel-surfing. I was only 8 years old at the time, but I was just mesmerized by the crazy martial arts and all the gory fatalities. It just blew my mind. I actually smiled whenever Kenshiro killed someone (I'm disturbed, I know :P). Still one of my faves.

About 19 years ago, before I had even heard of Anime I had the VHS of the 1974 version of Jack and the Beanstalk. I watched it so much that the tape itself ended up broken. Bought the DVD recently to rewatch it so it, enjoyed it, it was pretty dark for an anime based on a fairy tail. I like this anime so much that my Exeggcutor(the second most important pokemon on my team) in Heartgold has been given the name Tulip after the character Tulip from this Anime.

Sailor Moon, it aired during the mornings one summer back when I was a kid. Didnt' even knew it was "anime" back then.
Honestly, I think Sailor Moon was one of the first shows that came to my country (Sweden).

I can still remember some of the show, even if I havn't watched it seriously now for years.
Can remember how much I admired Sailor Mars; I thought she was really cool and also I can remember that my siblings always screamed excited for me to hurry and come when the show was about to start. We all really loved it and missing it "would ruin the day!" so we were very anxious to make sure that no one would miss it. Can't even understand how the time can have passed this fast. I know it was a really long time ago, but it really doesn't feel like it. Have I really gotten that old already? Jeeeeeeezz.... I miss my youth.

I also remember watching a pretty cool anime where this guy would fight monsters and then they would turn into peanuts or sunflower seeds or some crap like that after he killed them. I remember watching Naruto on Cartoon Network many years ago. It was the episode Sasuke and Naruto began fighting Haku when Zabuza was invading Team 7 on (later known as) the Great Naruto Bridge. I wasn't quite sure what anime was and wasn't even aware that it was a Japanese show, being very young at the time. A few weeks later, I looked it up online and watched a few episodes. I didn't begin watching subbed until later--which is all I can watch, I can't stand dubbed--but at the time I watched Naruto English dubbed.
I didn't watch a lot of episodes, but I watched enough to get through three or four seasons, then stopped watching it. Over the next few years I watched it off and on. I did not begin to watch it seriously until about a year ago. Since then, I have been watching it steadily. I would like to begin other anime as well.

if were talking like gateway what anime got you in sadly it was naruto back when i didn't know what anime ment I heard someone saying naruto was awsome and the best and I asked when does it air and they said adult swim so i watched an episode they were fighting a giant snake and a bunch of people were jumping around and some really cool ninja fight were happening and the names were weird to me since I've never watched anime till now

and since it's naruto I saw a bunch of flash backs and I wanted to know what i was missing so i went on youtube found the show watched up until around episode 40 something and then after that they were speaking gibberish with subtitles flashing across the screen at the speed of light.

I wanted to know what happened next but I didn't want to read subs since i was introduced to anime without learning the sub dub system so i waited till the episodes came out in english then i got so impatient that i watched the subs much to my dismay and then found bleach and found all the anime sites to watch anime online free.

thats how I found out about anime and became a fan I still prefer anime in dub and hate watching subbed no matter what the subies say I still think anime sounds better in dub because I couldn't stand subs when i started watching and I still don't like them but i have to live with them just because I'm an anime fan dosen't mean i like to watch everything in japanse so I'd rather consistently watch things in englihs law and order SVU south park etc so thats how i became a fan and thats how i think now

Well granted, I dont think I knew the word anime when I first saw them, I just thought they were cool cartoons, but my first ones were the late 70's early 80's Voltran, StarGazers and Mobile Suit Gundam. Maybe watched some others over the years, but wouldnt say I was huge into anime.

But starting last year caught myself watching more and more, due to Netflix. First of those was High School of the Dead, due to they had put it in my zombie que, and was curious, been watching more and more anime since.

Now looking at a bunch of different places to be able to stream if possible thru tv(360), and finding Netflix is good for a lot of the older stuff, but Hulu is really good for newer stuff, so subscribing to that and probably also Crunchyroll. Plus I already am a amazon prime member, so get stuff thru that also.

However, being 7 years old at the time I didn't know any better. Another childhood anime I remember watching was Samurai Pizza Cats (aka Cat Ninja Legend Teyandee) - perhaps my first anime of significant interest since I developed a bit of an obsession with the characters (so much so that I would draw them on a regular basis). However, it wasn't until watching Clannad (by recommendation) that I seriously started to consider collecting anime and integrating it in my lifestyle; so in effective terms, you could say that Clannad is really my first anime.
