Synopsis:

"Keima Katsuragi, a second-year high school student, is an avid dating sim gamer. He is known on the Internet as "The Capturing God" for his legendary skills to be able to "capture" any 2D girl in games. However, in his actual school life, Keima is known as otamegane, a derogatory portmanteau of the two words otaku (オタク) and megane (メガネ-"glasses").

At the start of the series, Keima receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts what is thought to be a challenge, and a demon from Hell nicknamed Elsee appears. She asks for his cooperation to help her in catching the runaway spirits. These spirits hide themselves inside the girl's heart, and Elsee suggests that the only method to force the spirits out is by "capturing" their hearts—making them fall in love. Appalled by the idea, Keima refuses after clarifying to Elsee that he is only interested in "capturing" 2D girls and that he detests reality. Nevertheless, with the contract already accepted, Keima would have to help Elsee no matter what; if they fail, both Elsee and Keima would lose their heads."



Well I've read the manga so I know what happens and it's pretty awesome. I must say they've done a good job with the first episode and I can see this becoming quite a popular series like Amagami SS.

It was an okay manga until you realize that its boring as hell. I think the idea that it had some sort of potential kept me holding on, and by the time I realized it, reading it was a chore.

Well this is another anime that I think was getting pretty hyped up, and if I read correctly, this show already is greenlit for a 2nd season even when the 1st season just started.

The manga has got boring as of late but the beginning was great.

Also it is a shame they forget, but they don't fully forget.

Second episode was pretty awesome, Keima is starting to except Elise as his...temporary little sister so all is good. Although I must love his mother's reaction xD

I can't help but feel this is going to end with him falling in love with one of the targets and getting rejected by her once she loses her memory, or falling in love with Elsee and unable to do the job properly from such (haven't read the manga).

But, I am loving the episodes with the idol.

Well, doing a bit of necroing but newais. This is my own theorization about the ending which is still open, even in the manga. Spoilers ensue. (sum1 hide em, I dunno how)

Later on in the manga, a plot device which let's the captured girls retain their memory of the capture is introduced and poor Keima gets thrown into a harem situation. I'm wondering which girl suits Keima best. Personally, I think it should be Tenri, because she is Keima's childhood friend and pretty much the only one who liked Keima for what he was. Where as during the usual captures, Keima basically becomes a different person for capturing each girl. Then there's Kanon, who's most open about her love towards Keima, a strong candidate too, and finally there's this tsundere demon girl (similar to Elsee) Haqua who also likes Keima. But in the end there's also a good chance that Keima will stay single, because unlike other romance protagonists, he's not searching love, it's just his job. To be precise, he hates "real no onna", as he calls them and thinks that gal-game girls are superior to them in every single way.

For those who also follow the manga, feel free to reply to my theorization.

Shame you say that. I enjoy the manga a lot, and once it does have a plot it becomes more interesting. I thought I wouldn't like it at first, but I enjoyed watching his different ideas on how to get the girls.
