Whats the funniest thing you know of in history?

My favorite is the Irish invasion of Canada. General John O'Neill led under a thousand men into Canada in 1866. He beat the English forces that were sent to oppose him before realizing how big Canada was and retreated. They were arrested on the border. Eventually released he proceeded to amass another two forces and invade twice more. The third invasion ending when the couldn't get past customs.

Well, I've heard once from a History teacher of mine that a Brazilian submarine attacked a school of fishes on WWII mistaking'em for a German submarine, or something like that.

This isn't funny as much as it is this one guy getting around. John Winthrop founded New London (where I used to live), and other towns in Connecticut, also founded Fishers Island, NY (where I live now).

I'd have to go with the Adamites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adamites).
Basically- if you're too lazy to read Wikipedia- they were bizarre Christian extremists who were also nudists and socialist anarchists who abolished marrige. Claimed it made sense 'cause that's how Eden worked, back in the day.
They went through a few different revivals, one of which in Europe was killed off by a couple different armies.


It's funnier if you picture it this way: a naked guy comes down out of the mountains, runs into a seventeenth century European village, steals a chicken or something, and once caught trying to take it back home to the mountains claims something to the effect of, "Hey, it's okay! This is God's intent!" after which he is executed and an army is dispatched to kill his brethren.
