Blood Bowl! I still play that. Actually I play that in an online league (MBBL). It's pretty cool as you get to play with people all around the world. It's a play by e-mail league using the full competition rules (as opposed to the Cyanide game). Since my schedule means I can't set aside a couple hours to play anymore,, that's perfect for me as it's just ten minutes here and there.

Maybe consider joining up?

I play Eldar in 40K, but haven't been able to play in ages.

Warhammer Fantasy looks fun, but stupidly expensive as not only are the models more expensive per point generally than in 40K, but because they want to use their lords nobody really wants to play under 2k points, and the game doesn't really "work" at lower point totals, wheras 40K is fun and functional in a 400 point combat patrol.

I have Blood Bowl sitting in my storage room. Most people don't care to play games like that or any board game really now a days. Because of that I've been sticking to single player games like Xanth. Though that's done by a different company.

Only ever managed to get people to play BB twice. Might try and get the PSP game of it though.

I've found it's surprisingly easy to get people into blood bowl. The rules are relatively short and simple, also free. And most people have a loner team to let them try out. And getting your own team is pretty cheap.

I'd advise letting them play another newbie or play against themselves the first time, instead of crushing them yourself.

Part of it is finding the right community. Game store and college gaming clubs being the right sorts of places.

Nothing like that around me in busing distance. At least not without taking 3/4 buses.

I love Blood Bowl. Its by far the best game GW have ever put out. As for the other games I don't play 40k as much anymore. The new edition rules seriously hampers my army(Grey Knights) so until there's a codex update I still play with 4th Ed.
Its the exact opposite with Fantasy though. My army(Vampire Counts) are far too over powered. New edition is coming out though that supposedly will balance this.

I love Necromunda. Its by far the best game GW have ever put out.
Sorry just had to fix that.

I'm restarting 40k after a very, very long absense from the game (Since 2nd edition and GW's 'red' era). I'm currently working on a Chaos Marine army based on the Alpha Legion, simply because of all the chapters they apeal to me most fluff wise.

Actually Mordheim is better than Necromunda. Haven't played either in ages though and I think they've both been updated since then so maybe you're right.

iv never really been able to get into either simply because of the lack of greenskins in both.

And they've rather been abandoned by GW right?

Blood bowl got an update very recently. And of course there is the game now, so it's possible they'll actually stick with the thing to some degree long term.

Though I'm sure their bread and butter will be the sorts of games people plunk down hundreds upon hundreds to play.

Though there are a lot of Blood Bowl players here. Hmmm anybody interested in a play by e-mail type league?

Actually since this forum lets you attach files to posts we could have games be threads so other people can poke in and see what's happening.

There look to be four of us here that know the game alread, and one of the better things about blood bowl is that while it ultimately can get complicated enough to keep it interesting for old coaches, starting teams are simple enough newbies can read the neccessary chunks of the rulebook and play correctly right from the start, especially with the help of a tool (I'd suggest the mbbl one since there aren't many anyway and I like it).

By the way what rules are you guys used to?

I and eventually probably about everybody use the "competition rules" which are the current rules on the GW website.

If you're used to LRB5 or 6 they're nearly the same as this, just some odd tweaks here and there. If you're used to a much earlier version of the game than it's more of a change as I understand it.

As for the tool I like to use:
http://www.midgardbb.com/PBeMTool/pbembb_tool_10e_revision_002.zip

Not exactly a feast for the eyes, and it doesn't even try and automate all the special cards if you buy those for inducements, but it's nice for preventing you from doing bone head errors during your turn like forgetting someone on the other team had guard or stand firm.

The "ini" folder has a tutorial in it. Though, since it's just suppose to simulate blood bowl per the regular rules there isn't too much to learn. You could probalby figure everything out just clicking around, especially right clicking on players or the pitch.

The team creater is kinda nice too.
