I'm more of a Stephen King / horror kind of guy. Most of his older writings, such as The Shining, were the best books I ever read.

So yeah. I like being scared by books.

Idk why, it's just relaxing.

Oh gosh... I don't have just one type of genre I could call a favorite. I read a lot of stuff, from Heinlein to Gabaldon, so I can't pin just one down; but if I'm stuck on a desert island and can choose beforehand, I'd have to say horror. Definitely.

Literary fiction is easily my favorite, what with it's focus on finer writing skills, depth, and character development. I absolutely love anything by Gregory Maguire, Ian McEwan, and Anne Tyler, all of whom write in that style. After that true crime, horror, and some of the classics (I particularly love Poe and Kafka).
