Neigbours son has a prob with his wireless kit(why anyone would want wireless when a good stout copper cable is infinitely more reliable defeats me though)
Anyway he brings machine to the Towers and seeks one's help after much fannying about deleting and reloading drivers and such one got the bloody thing to work, worked ok after switch off and reboot but if I removed the dongle plugged into usb socket then rebooted, then reinsert same it asks g for the driver disk and reloads the driver, surely it the stupid thing should keep the dongle driver stashed away somewhere on the hard disk?is this normal?

My best guess would be that its installed, somehow, temporarily or you plugged it into the wrong USB port. Some of my USB gadgets have a fit if I plug them into different slots.

If its not the wrong port then:

1. Find where the drivers for said dongle are stored.
2. Copy and paste them into the folder c:\windows\system32 and then reboot.
3. If 2 doesn't work try pasting the drivers into c:\windows\system32\drivers and then reboot.
4. If 3 doesn't work. Pay someone to do it. And reboot.

Or tell me what the product's serial number, product number, and what it is called in layman's terms and I will personally figure it out myself.

By the way God created eHow (http://www.ehow.com/) and Google (http://www.google.com) so I don't have to do this crap myself.
