I have straight vanilla firefox. I enjoy tabbed browsing, the google search box, and the recovery feature for when it crashes. The first time I tried Firefox was when IE kept getting hijacked. That was when I was young and had less sensible surfing habits. And IE was majorly vulnerable.

Tabbed browsing, at that point, was a FF thing, and after a week of trying it, I couldn't see how I'd ever lived without it.

I'm stuck using Google Chrome while I'm here in Florida it isn't that bad but this laptop is too out of date for it so it moves a bit slowly >_<

I have Safari for both of my Macs (iMac and MBP)
But personally it's just your own preference.
Use what you are happy with.

But on my windows desktop I have my lovely firefox in there. =)

Up until recently I'd been using Firefox, but on my machine I've discovered that Chrome is noticeably faster. So at this point I"m going Chrome pretty steady.

On *MY* computer I use Mozilla Firefox. Buuuut I don't have the net on my computer currently (long story, don't ask.) so I'm using my moms and she uses Internet Explorer. Which crashes once in awhile but meh, as long as I can check my haunts. Like AF, which is the first I check =P

I use Chrome the most. It bugs me that the drop down menu for AF doesn't work, but it stopped working on my old computer as well and I've learned to navigate around it pretty well.
I also use Firefox but it's noticeably slower than Chrome for me.
Internet Explorer is okay, but I'd definitely use it last if I have a choice.

Flock is a browser built on Firefox that's based around social networking. I'm not sure of the specifics since I'm not into social networking.

Anyways, I use Firefox for everyday stuff, with Midori as backup. Once Opera 10.50 arrives on Linux, I'll be giving it a whirl.

I currently use Google Chrome for everything, and although it's a fast browser, half of AF is unusable in it - Chrome just doesn't seem to support the vB drop-down menus.

Opera 10.51 is set my main browser, but it isn't as fast and consumes more resources (on my not-quite-so-fast) desktop, so I switch constantly.

I love FireFox. My favorite browser.

FireFox is open source, and recently the browser itself has been faster (tho my internet connection sucks). The fact that it's open source is what makes it awesome. It's greatly customizeable and thus can be made as secure as one can get, it can look in whatever way you wish it to, and your web activities can be much more efficient. Because of this, FireFox can become specialized. I'm totally for Mozilla Foundation's mission. I am all for keeping the internet open, decentralized, secure and personal.

Safari is alright. Not my type of design, tho (a monotonous gray look). Google Chrome looks good and has great speeds, but the lay-out (as in, where the options and bookmarks and stuff is located) is not as user-friendly as FireFox's. Same with Opera, tho Opera has really great download speeds. IE completely sucks - it's an open door for malware and malicious code.

Opera 10.63 is my main browser, for several reasons:
- It is the only browser (or program otherwise) I've yet found that can save to and open MHTs on a Linux system. I don't feel like breakin' out XP just for an MHT or two, nor am I quite worried enough to resave them all to normal HTML.
- Its handling of downloads is far, far better than anything short of dedicated download managers or wget.
- It has mail and can handle torrents, besides being a damn fine browser.
- It can save well over two dozen sessions, and I make heavy use of that particular feature. With Mozilla's offerings, I've only managed to save the very last session.

In addition, though, I do have to mention Seamonkey (2.0.10), which is more or less an uglier but more powerful (in my opinion) cousin to Firefox. It adds a simple WYSIWYG HTML editor, mail and newsfeed.

Mozilla Firefox

I like the way it looks as opposed to Internet Explorer. I like that it spell checks stuff as you type. It is immune to certain errors that occur on my college's websites, whereas Internet Explorer is not. Sometimes if you print something off a website using Internet Explorer, the page comes out blank but it doesn't do that on Firefox.

narunaru
04-10-2010, 10:22 PM
I like to use Opera. Sure, it makes some things act weird, but it's far less cluttered than most other WBs. Plus, it saves your pages between sessions.

I sort of reluctantly use Chrome. Not that it's a bad browser, but I prefer Firefox. Sadly, Firefox has decided to be insubordinate and will crash randomly (always on YouTube, and randomly on random sites.) So I can't use it, and it seems as if the actual problem hasn't been diagnosed by technicians and there's no solution. I might try again and see if there's an update or something though.

You know what? I take back my choice. I've since learned that Opera has serious problems dealing with....most anything. >>;

So, I revert to Firefox. It's reliable, great for downloading, and the add-ons provide you with a smooth, customized experience when you log on(I love Videosurf, FoxDie, FastestFox and Adblock.) It's also an ideal web browser for the programmer demographic.

As for Opera.....it's only good for reading manga on sites like Onemanga. So I use it for that. And no other time.

I use Opera and Firefox. I find Opera to be better than Firefox when it comes to gold mining.I use Opera on my phone, Chrome on my PC and Safari 4 on my Mac. It's one big, happy, multicultural browser family in the McEntegart house. If you pushed me to say which was better, I'd probably have to say Firefox.

I have the new IE and Chrome on my computer, they're both the same. I don't really like how they don't have the Menu bar. I just can't get used to browsers that don't have it.

I've been a firefox user almost ever since came out but one of my friends recommended chrome so I tried it out and fell in love. I don't get AD's on my youtube videos because of a gadget I installed and there are some other good things you can download for GC as well. Plus they have better downloadable skins for your browser than FF had.

And IE just isn't worth comparing.

Hm. I read some of the posts here and I'm seeing an intense hate for Internet Explorer. I cannot understand why. Firefox is always crashing on me, so I dislike that. Chrome is.. The layout is too small. There aren't any menu buttons, which irks me to no end. I like having ultimate control over my browser. Everyone says "OMG OMG CHROME IS SOOOO FAST". Yeah, so? You only have a millisecond for it to load, otherwise you get shot in the head? You don't really need all that 'speed,' I think. I haven't tried Opera, so I can't say anything about that. Internet Explorer is what I grew up with, and is what I'll remain faithful to.

Internet Explorer never crashes on me. It lags a TINY bit when I have a crapload of windows open, but that's it.

I use Google Chrome. It's sleek, secure, lightweight, and arguably the fastest full featured browser for the web.

I used to use Firefox, but then it became obese, slow, and full of security exploits. It absolutely disgusts me that Microsoft Word 2003 cold boots faster then that browser >~<

Mozilla seems like it's starting to take a step in the right direction though, judging from the beta tests I've done and recent updates. We'll see how that ends, though.

Not sure if I already posted this but ...

Actually, you posted it just in the same page. :P (Take a look at post #129 above your post.) Though there are 40 days between them, so it's not strange you didn't remember.

I use Firefox. (In fact, I created a group (http://www.animeforum.com/group.php?groupid=64) for it.) I keep a crapload of other browsers installed for testing though, as I'm a web developer.

To be fair, Chrome is comparable to Firefox. On the one hand, it's superior speed-wise. On the other hand, its JavaScript API caused me a few headaches before. Firefox is the best browser I've worked with so far when it comes to web standards and all. That, I can't live without Firefox extensions.

When it comes to the looks, I dislike Chrome's "minimalistic" interface. And I dislike IE's heavily butchered/disorganized interface too. I prefer Firefox's more "traditional" interface, as it's the most accessible and intuitive one.

I use Internet Explorer by default, even though I know it's not the fastest or most reliable brower. It's just that I like its functionality and I'm used to the structure... so I'm reluctant to change. However, I've started using Firefox and Chrome lately, and they're good: Firefox is pretty stable, and a good all rounder, and Chrome is fastest (in my opinion) with minimal clutter - although I think the latter comes at the expense of some functionality compared to the other browsers.

Flock. I just love it. BTW have any of you already tried IE9..? They're promoting that it is faster than Google Chrome

Well I've tried the Beta version, but it was too unstable, so I uninstalled it. IE8 does plenty for me so I'll leave IE9 until I really need it. :p

What? Are you talking about Chrome's Extension API, or V8, the implementation of JavaScript? If you're writing high-quality, standards-compliant JavaScript, you shouldn't have any trouble in Chrome.

In both cases, I find Chrome to be superior. Chrome's implementation is much better, especially in ECMAScript 5's strict mode. Even Firefox 4.0's Jagermonkey isn't nearly as polished (or fast) as V8.

As far as IE 9, I found that it crashes pretty frequently on even the most recent versions of the beta, but there are cases where the hardware acceleration (especially using when using canvases) is quite impressive. At very least, IE 9 is a step in the right direction.

Yeah keep using IE. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Spybot (google it), scan with both programs and see how infected your computer is. If you have find no problems then stick with IE, but if you find a boat load of infections then move to another browser.
------------------

I use Firefox with noscript and adblockplus. I use safari for private browsing since I don't have any important info stored on it.

While I've played around with chrome and it's too minimal for me use, I like to have more control over how my browser works (themes and all) which is something Firefox does me.

IE has some crappy options and feels clunky, MS doesn't even update the browser to add new functionality to the existing versions. They leave it the way it is until they have some really horrible issue that needs to be addressed, or they update to the newest IE when they feel like it.

I personally have used Fire Fox only a few times and that was when I was still in high school. And I have never used Google Chrome,
so I don't know what it's like. But I mainly have used IE. And all kinds of versions of it. On my old laptop, IE had stopped letting me
get into chat, so a friend told me I could try Opera, and it ended up working so I could get in chat. So I used that for some time, and
I was pretty happy with it. It was fast, and I liked how it always spell checked everything. But now I have another laptop, and it came
with IE. Don't know what version. But it hasn't given me too many problems. I think I would go back to opera though.
