This is where I'm going to post my siggys and avatars. Please tell me what I can do to improve them, because I can tell they need work. I use GIMP. I'm deleting my oldest ones, because I really don't like them.

10-22-2007, 07:56 PM
Thank you for the compliments! I downloaded a thirty day trial of photoshop seven, so this is what I produced:

A redo of one of the ones above: Extraction by serated:

Extraction by Serated:

An Avatar to go with the kitty thing up there: (I know it's big)

And a random sig:

10-22-2007, 07:58 PM
They're not bad for paint, but if anything, color blending.

10-22-2007, 08:20 PM
I have to agree with the idea of using GIMP. Its sort of like Photoshop with all the layers and stuff, and its totally free. From there, its all a matter of learning the tricks of the trade. I think you have potential.

10-22-2007, 08:24 PM
I noticed the works that you used when you got the trials of Photoshop. They are good, but when you are making the extracts either bigger, or smaller, you want the extract to be evenly sized, or it's going to look really thin, or fat. So when you are sizing it, hold shift so that it retains it's original look and that way it isn't so pixelated. The random sig is nice because of it's depth, however the color of the text is kind of out of place, and it's hard to read. Other than that, they are not bad. Don't worry, you'll get better. I still have yet to learn. =)

10-22-2007, 08:31 PM
Thank you for the info on the test on the random sig. I was planning to do it in a pale pink or light grey, but for some reason I was having difficulty. Thanks!

11-12-2007, 06:02 PM
It's been a while, so I guess I can post to it again.

Here are some Pokemon Avies I made:

Some random Siggys and Avies that I made:

An InuyashaxKagome set:

There we go! What do you think?

11-12-2007, 06:07 PM
There nice, and I think that they could use a littl e more color blending. They would look way better.
Still,there good.

11-12-2007, 06:22 PM
There ok but i would try NOT useing paint.
I use it all the time but it's so hard to use!
So, in a way your like me, stuck with paint -.-'

11-17-2007, 05:47 PM
Your set is pretty good. The colors work good together hope you keep making more you have some talent but it can be hard to see but overall good style

06-12-2008, 12:32 AM
I'm updating after a very long time... he he....

Please comment!

This is the only one that's actually anime, but oh well.... *heh heh...*

Random ones:

This is actually a variation on an old sig.

06-14-2008, 01:38 PM
OK, I'm looking at the ones I did on Paint, and they really suck... In fact, all of my earlier ones do.....

Here are some new ones:

I have two versions of this one:

I think the second one's better.

06-14-2008, 06:48 PM
Not bad siggies at all BTW did you try Paint DOT Net again it's free and all that ^.^
And no I haven't tried it so yeah..
But the thing is on some of your sigs needs some more blending in.
And I can't really see the text..
Well done though!!!~~

06-30-2008, 11:34 AM
A lot of people have mentioned blending... He he he..... No, I haven't tried Paint dot net yet.....

Here are some new siggys. Three of them are remakes of old ones I did with paint.

Not remakes:

06-30-2008, 05:38 PM
Wow your getting much better im sure you will be pro in no time xD I see you used a rain animation in one of your signatures and the cut out border, it's good to see you are learning new effects for your signatures. Make sure to do as many tutorials as you can, they can teach you a lot. I really like the first remake, the love heart with wings is really good.

06-30-2008, 06:11 PM
Hey there...
You've got great work there. I just felt the need to comment on the extractions...
Some of them have bits of the background from which they came from.
Also, on some it looks like you tried way too hard.
You might want to aim to keep it simple.
Though I shouldn't be criticizing since I have yet to master the photoshop.
For example my signature...
I have the feeling that I used too many stars.
But anyway, this is about your works and not mine.
Keep up the good work and practice... Practice a lot!!!

06-30-2008, 06:34 PM

I think I like the original one better, but I put both up. OK, kepp it simple... Thanks! And yeah, I'll work on the extracts. They're not actually what I usually do, but I like finding my own pictures, so....

And I'll try some tutorials, thank you. Yeah, I like that rain effect.

06-30-2008, 06:48 PM
Not bad on the remakes =]
Erm if you don't mind me asking what photoshop do you use??
And I love the one with the rain effect it's so smooth and nice to look at =]
Overall you know what you've learned you just need to get them right
by like putting this or that in this tag ect.

06-30-2008, 07:30 PM
I actually don't use photoshop, I use GIMP.

07-02-2008, 04:01 AM
Well, they're good for paint.. Try to make them less blurry. And, how old is your computer? If you can't download, then just.. Ask for requests. It'll look better, no offence.. But it's time- You'll get better. . Maybe.

07-03-2008, 01:12 PM
This is a set for a character I RP as on a site.

07-03-2008, 01:41 PM
The idea for the avatar is interesting though you can try to make the eye clearer since it looks blurry.

The sig seemed disorganized and the extracts/major elements you've put in clashes with each other rather than complement. I think a sig should tell a story and imbibe a certain cohesive idea even without the words. ^^ If you are to incorporate text, it's better to choose a font that's easy to read. And I think a more subtle background will be better.

Keep on experimenting with the gfx software you use and see what's easy on the viewer's eyes. Check out the animegalleries forum for helpful tips and tuts... and even for inspiration. ^^

07-03-2008, 07:14 PM
Yeah i agree with Mikadzuki, the signature is too pixel-y and contrasting. Kinda hurts my eyes. I think the text should have been a different colour instead of putting effects on the text - maybe white/blue. And always remember to put a border on the signture, if you did i'm sorry ^^;; Atleast you have placed the extraction as the focual point, and you have tried exerimenting with the bakcground and the text. Keep on truckin' :3

07-05-2008, 03:54 AM
Most of the designs are on random placement/construction/choice.

How long have you been starting on GFX?

07-06-2008, 10:04 PM
I started doing signatures about a year ago, but I took a break of maybe four-six months, and before that break I was mostly using paint.

Thanks for the comments on that last sig. I got an idea for one using the same girl, but with some changes. That sig was based off of a sig someone did for me with the same character, but I wanted to make my own. That didn't go too well... =/

Here's another sig with the same character and text.

07-09-2008, 10:05 AM
I think it's been long enough that I can post again. So here are some new ones.

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/Mariaava.png http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/noelava.jpg

I also kept that sig with a white bg, but I like it better with the soft pink one. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/singing2.png

07-16-2008, 10:21 PM
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/sunsig.png The extract is credited to Serated.

Please CnC! I need to know what to fix. :)

07-17-2008, 05:14 PM

This one is cute.
But you need more detail in it. Maybe some floral brushes? If you have a program that uses brushes.
And some text would be good, too.
btw...is that Miki and Yuu from Marmalade boy? xD

07-18-2008, 06:51 PM

It's actually Maria and Noel from Mint Na Bokura, but when I think of it, I think it's the same artist. I didn't really have any good floral brushes, so I tried a heart one.

07-18-2008, 07:04 PM
Okies I'll give you some CnC >:3 -dramatic music-

Okie, the first one is good, just the border and text are putting me off a lil. In my opinion, never put pink and red next to each other, it doesn't look as good as another colour, but if you feel that it does then thats fine :3 The border is a lil wierd it kinda stops halfway, unless that is just an effect you put into the sig xD if so, you need to put a border on, maybe just a black or white 1 pixel stroke around the outside. Because this sig is a lil empty I would have made the text bigger to give the illusion of more space being taken up. I do like the sunny effect you have there :3 and a nice choice of extraction.

I love the second one, its simple and cute :3 The background is good, the border, and the textwork/text placement. Can't see anything that could be made better with that one.

Hope I helped ^^;

07-18-2008, 07:30 PM

Here's a redo of that sig. I fixed the border, I think.

Here's a new one, extract by Serated.

07-18-2008, 07:33 PM
The re do of the sig looks much better :3 I love the music one, and the fact that you have put your text kinda in the background, makes it more original and flows better but still be able to be readable. Like the background, did you blur it? anyways, good work Nariii <3

07-19-2008, 12:21 AM
I messed with the brightness and contrast quite a bit, but I don't think I blurred it.

Thanks! I'm glad you like my sigs.

07-23-2008, 07:28 PM

This is the only one I have right now, but if I find some good pics of the series I've been obsessing over lately, (ghost hunt) I'll update faster.

07-27-2008, 11:05 PM

Here's one. For once I didn't use a stock or extract... I think it's a bit plain.

07-31-2008, 06:51 PM
No comments.... sad.... ;)

This one was done based off of Jagan EYe's Angel signature tut. I didn't follow it completely though.

The avatars not so good...

I love pocky!

Which version do you like better?

Memento Mori
07-31-2008, 06:59 PM
The text is harsh and pixel-y, the blending isn't so hot, and you need to pay attention to detail. You have a good start, you just need to mess around with a few things more often.

07-31-2008, 07:03 PM
You should sharpen the pocky image to make it stand out.

08-03-2008, 01:11 AM
I tried messing with the text and sharpening on the pocky one, but I was having trouble with it, so I'm giving up for now.

The text on this is funny, I had a lot of trouble with it.... the sig doesn't really flow too well either. Suggestions?

08-03-2008, 02:12 AM
Ehhh, well the newest one is well bad.. The effects aren't that good, fractals/flame filter does not do well in signatures. Not much going one, and whats that going over the border.
Keep working on it though, you'll improve.

08-03-2008, 04:12 PM
The text should be a different color. And you should sharpen the faces.

08-03-2008, 08:15 PM
I redid that sig, although I don't know how much of an improvement it's gone through.... I finally figured out how to sharpen properly...

and here's another tatu sig. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/tatu2.png

08-03-2008, 08:38 PM
The 1st tatu sig, looks like you just blurred the edges around the extract, and put a random c4d in the background, so it looks kind of plain and well, yeah, plain. Don't get me wrong, plain is nice sometimes, but you should try playing around with the gradients and use different brushes, you can download loads of new brushes at deviantart.com, and it's ok to use more than 2 or 3 colors in the background. And using filters too often makes the sig look boring sometimes. The second tatu sig looks nicer than the 1st, so keep it up. I started out here too,so don't worry too much, you'll definitely improve. ^_^

08-03-2008, 09:09 PM
I like the 2nd tatu sig. The effect are cool. I don't really like the font though, www.dafont.com has some great fonts though.

08-05-2008, 07:32 AM
love the pink!!! needs a little bit more work though!!! but keep it up...u got the talent!!

08-05-2008, 11:45 PM
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/nariellovely.png The extract is by Unli. Does anyone have suggestions for brushes? I think it's too plain...

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/billsig.png I love the fonts at dafont!

Here are some of my sigs I've entered in the SOTWs. they haven't done too well though... =/
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/moonswordsig.gif (that one's really bad...)

08-06-2008, 06:39 AM
you defo need some work on blending the render with the bg....try smudging...that might help you balance the bg and the render..also try not to over sharpend since it comes over choppy! but keep it up! ull get there!!!:D

08-11-2008, 07:25 AM
I think the first sig's image is too big. I think you need to sharpen and contrast your images in your signatures. ohhh and I don't know what program you use, but I like going to this site to find brushes: [REMOVED]

08-14-2008, 07:16 PM
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/billava.png This avatar was made to go with the Bill sig. The text color is wrong, but darker it didn't show very much.... Oh well....

Oh yeah. I got the idea for this one from one of Jose101's sigs. Hope you don't mind.

Extract by Unli.

Extract also by Unli.
I was just messing around... Very mismatched...

08-27-2008, 01:32 PM

I've been away for a while, so I don't have many, just that one. The extract is by Maru Dashi.

08-29-2008, 11:52 PM
Here's my next batch. They're pretty similar, especially since all but one of them were a set.

These 4 are some of the characters from a new manga based off the book Maximum Ride, by James Patterson. YAY! The flock rules!

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/iggysig.png http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/fangsig.png http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/maxsig.png http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/angelsig.png
The Angel one is my favourite.

Here's another one. It isn't flowing right... Tips?http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/maydrewsig.png

Edit: I deleted some of the sigs from the Maximum ride set, because they weren't very good. I kept the four I liked best.

09-07-2008, 03:15 PM
I REALLY need tips, so please C n C!

It's pretty plain, but...
extract by Ichigo kiss.

09-26-2008, 10:27 PM
Here's my latest one. The extraction is by Jagan Eye.

What do you think?

09-26-2008, 11:48 PM
Ahhh No one has replied. ;-;

I like the general overall idea of the signture. Its good.
You kept the colour scheme to white and purple which is good as it blends with the extraction.
It looks a little blurry though, so try sharpening the entire image. If you have photoshop you create a new layer, Image > apply image and then go Filter> sharpen> sharpen. Then turn the opacity down or erase some areas.

Looking good, keep practicing. :3

09-26-2008, 11:53 PM
I've got Gimp.... I sharpened just the girl, and I kind of like the effect.

Rem Nightfall
09-26-2008, 11:55 PM
I REALLY need tips, so please C n C!

It's pretty plain, but...
extract by Ichigo kiss.

I think for this one you need to find a better image quality.
And if you can't find one sharpen her image up a little. Add some text or maybe another image of her.

09-28-2008, 12:26 AM

I sharpened her a bit, and added a couple of effects. I don't know if it made it anymore interesting, but... I also found a small thing in the extract that was bugging me, so I fixed that.

09-29-2008, 07:34 AM
Your signatures are nice :3 For the sakura one, I reckon the render is too bright, maybe make her a little darker in curves or somthing :) Keep up the good work :D

10-01-2008, 10:21 AM

What do you think? (I actually don't know the character, I just know that she died....)

The extract is by serated.

10-24-2008, 08:18 PM

What do you think?

10-25-2008, 12:27 AM

Is the text talking about that one girl who had leukemia and was making 1000 paper cranes? That was a good book. xD

This sig is okay.
I don't think an RL person should be put on flat colors like that. I'm not very good with stocks, though, so yeah. The light behind her looks a bit weird to me. The border should be a different color, too, imo.
Otherwise it's pretty cool.
Keep on going! ♫♥

11-02-2008, 12:10 PM
I tried to make this one a little less flat. I hope it worked...

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/tokiosig.png Another attempt at a grunge sig for one of my favourite bands.

11-02-2008, 12:20 PM
I see what you're trying to do with your TH siggy.
You can't really see their faces and the border is not fully complete.
The text is ok but the font choice is not so good.My advice is put a
little more in it,some dark colors would be great. And maybe don't
really over brush it;sometimes it looks bad imo..Aswell use the brightness
/contrast thing. Also if it's grungy you might aswell download a grungy
font..Overall it's nice keep working on it!

11-02-2008, 02:03 PM

I brought in some of the colors from the people's clothing. I also took some of the smudging off their faces, and used a slightly grungier font. I changed the border too. Did any of that help?

11-03-2008, 07:54 AM

You have some unique ideas here. But you still need more practice. A nice way would be to pick up some tutorials. Those help a lot. And you can get better faster.

11-04-2008, 10:57 AM
I really like how this one turned out. :) The extract was by IchigoKiss.

I think I did something funny with the character here....

These are some ones I made a couple weeks ago and forgot to put up:

both of those extracts were from planet renders.

11-08-2008, 12:36 PM
Aww... No comments... ;)

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/dangerava.png This was my result for IchigoKiss's Barbie Icon tutorial.

I made this a while ago. Don't like it. No flow. And the colors don't match. I think the text isn't very good either. Any ideas of how to fix it? Extract by IchigoKiss.

This turned out OK, I think.

I like how this one came out. The extract is by Mira Kaiba.

11-13-2008, 12:58 AM
Your lastest sig is great! You've have improve alot. Your happy child sig, the background is just a bit random and the render is too bright. Use curves to fix this and also add a border to make a sig look finished. Keep up the good job.

11-16-2008, 10:57 PM
Thanks Neo-chan! I'll try some of that soon.

Here are two versions of a CCS siggy I made.

V 1: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/ccstag2.png
v 2: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/ccstag.png

Which one is better? I wasn't sure which looked better.

11-22-2008, 11:08 PM

That one's OK. It's kind of plain, but I like the light coming from the character.

The text is iffy....

This was my favourite of the batch!

What do you think?

11-30-2008, 01:21 AM
Aww... yet again, no comments....

Not much of an update, I was cleaning out my files, and found these two, which I hadn't quite finished, so I finished them. :)
The second one is obviously too plain, but I don't know what to add.... Any tips?

11-30-2008, 05:45 PM
I made this a while ago. Don't like it. No flow. And the colors don't match. I think the text isn't very good either. Any ideas of how to fix it? Extract by IchigoKiss.

v 2: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/ccstag.png

Which one is better? I wasn't sure which looked better.

I actually think Happy Child one is REALLY good, and so are all these other ones.

I wish I could make signatures like this.

As for the last 2 I think the second one is better because the sides aren't blurry, but I only started making images last night, so what do I know? lol

Oh yeah and if you don't mind me asking what exactly is this "extract by" thing mean?

12-13-2008, 01:52 PM
That was my entry for the SOTW geisha one.... I actually got a vote!

And here's a sig I just did really quickly last night, but liked. I couldn't think of much to add....

And me plus real people and flat colors strikes again! ^.^

12-23-2008, 02:47 PM

I have no idea who these kids are, I found them on google....

Comments please! =)

I see that you've gotten better with some blending. : D
For you Sakura & Kero one, I like v2 better. =)
Happy Child is kind of plain, and I don't like the text. :/
For the Risa one, the render is kinda low quality.
I am not too good with real people, so I can't help you there. ><
Some tuts, maybe?
And your last Sig in your last is kinda big. ><
I like it though. =)
Maybe resize it and slap on some nice matching text? lol.
And last but not least, I am liking your current Sig. :3

EDIT: I like the Tomoyo and Sakura sig btw! : DD

01-10-2009, 09:14 PM

extract by Serated

Extract by Darkandiel

01-16-2009, 07:33 PM

Extract by Fleur.

This is pretty simple, but I love Amanda Bynes. She always plays totally awesome parts.

Extract from Darkandiel. The colors ended up pretty bad.
This is a remake of an old sig I made before.

01-22-2009, 08:23 PM
AWESOME stuff you have here! The set your wearing right now has a nice calm flow to it and you have improved a lot on you blending. It very cute :) You may want to try not some filter on the background on some of your sigs or so and add some brushes or something. Some of your signatures colours don't really match. Don't ever be discourage, Keep them coming.

02-03-2009, 08:47 PM
Thanks for commenting, Neo-chan!

I got a request from INagare, and made a couple attempts with it. I don't think either of them turned out super great, but they're OK. Any tips for making them better?

02-06-2009, 11:19 PM

What do you think? I really wanted to do a sig with someone dancing, but I'm not sure about how it turned out. I like the feather avatar, even though it was originally just to test some new brushes I'd downloaded. =)

Comments please! Arigato!

02-21-2009, 02:38 PM

I got banned from my computer for two weeks, so I kinda forgot everything I was working on before, and all the ideas I had. Kinda sucks. But I made this this morning, so, here goes! C n' C please!

Magical Soul
02-21-2009, 02:47 PM
Shrink the borders, a bit too simple try more effects and add a bit more colour apart from that keep at it.

03-24-2009, 02:50 PM
Extract by Serated. I think this would have looked better if I'd made it larger, and used the entire picture frame.

I know there's a ridiculous amount of empty space, but my friend gave me a request for 500x200. I fail at big sizes....

Any tips?

04-12-2009, 12:30 AM
Extract by Serated.

I recently started watching a K-Drama called Boys Before Flowers, and love it! And these two are my favourite couple. The size on this sig is enormous....

04-16-2009, 02:59 AM
I love your newest creation and it looks better smaller.

Memento Mori
04-16-2009, 06:34 AM
@ Post 84: The first sig seems way too fuzzy. Not sharp enough. And the background doesn't flow well with the extraction. Also, the font is a little too extreme for the picture.

The second sig is adorable, though.

04-16-2009, 09:10 AM
The figures are too blurred.
Remember to erase the blur on the figures, or what ever the focal point is, and use sharpen atthe end or near the end :p

05-14-2009, 11:30 PM
Thanks for the tips.

This was my entry to the SOTW a while ago.

05-17-2009, 08:00 PM
It's really simple, but I liked the original picture. (I found it on google)

The extract is by Serated

What do you think?

05-20-2009, 11:58 PM
Couple new things.
REALLY small siggy.
sharpening experiment

06-11-2009, 03:53 PM
I love your Boys Over Flowers signature.
They're so cute together. XD

06-17-2009, 10:59 PM
They're so cute together. XD Yeah, I like them better than Jan Di and Gu Jun Pyo. Although, thats mostly cause I don't like Jun Pyo....

Here are two new siggies!

The extracts are by Serated.
What do you think?

06-30-2009, 05:59 PM
My attempt at a vertical sig. I love Rin, and I thought this picture would work better for a vertical sig. Its sort of plain, though... Any tips?

I've been having a lot of siggy block lately...
But I do have this: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x12/Yashagirl38/kagaminetwins.png

Comments, anyone?

In your most recent picture with the two vocaloids, they look awkward there, try adding small effects ontop of the characters in signatures so that the don't like like stamps on a postcard if you catch my drift.

Like how you did with the two sigs in post 92, while they are a little big by my tatse the brushes, characters, and feeling of the pictures all work together quite nicely.

As for the Rin verticle sig, it seems kind of plain but that might just be because I hate verticle sigs because on my old account here I was one of the first people to make on and got flamed by multiple people for it XD.

Still you have a lot of talent, I look forward to seeing more.

I love it all, but as you already know, I love pretty much all of your siggies. (The Rin one is so cute, I love the contrast.)

Thank you for the comments. (Yuliya, in response to your comment about post 90, I needed some pictures of real people to work with, but I'm uncomfortable using ones off google... Cause I have no idea who the people are, and quite possibly they would dislike me using their pictures.)

I was going to redo the kagamine twins sig, but I ended up making it totally different.

My old thread got closed because I didn't update... (Mods, do you think that this thread could maybe not be merged with the old one?)

I got Photoshop Elements 8 for Christmas, and am learning to use it. =)

My First Photoshop Siggy~

Just wondering, did you do anything else besides blur tooling everything except her face, and then added a border and some text? The biggest issue with these sigs is that it feels like they were made in 3 steps.

Now, I read that you just got Photoshop over the holidays, congrats, I hope you enjoy your present. I understand that you need to walk before you run, but right now your signatures aren't amazing or awe inspiring yet. I really suggest going to photoshop tutorial sites and just following anything that you think looks cool. Your first goal should be to learn how to use every single tool in your arsenal (photoshop).

Anyways, I think I'm coming off like a jerk, and I can't help it cause I am one, so sorry, but don't be disheartened, but what I think I'm trying to say is that you need to keep practicing.

01-14-2010, 12:37 AM
I attempted to do a little more than that, but it is true that the effects and things that I kept basically added up to that and messing with the hues a bit.

You're right, I should probably look at some tutorials. I'll try and do that this weekend. Thank you for your comments.

Here's a new sig, that I tried to make a little more complicated. I'm not sure that I like it much, but...

the extract is by serated.

I know this one is big, but I kinda looked at it, and went, oh my god. MESS. I decided not to bother with resizing it. Does anyone have any tips on improving it?

01-25-2010, 12:49 AM
I very much like the top one in your first post, I see nothing to particularly bad with it. The one below though looks kinda bland. What I mean is the top one has more effects and draws the eye much more from what I can tell. I know colors are not everything though I really tend to go for works that use a lot of visable and clear effects. So that is my suggestion for the second one. Though both are still quite good, I can tell you know GIMP and most of it's features very nice. I also noticed that those are the sigs u r using now. :)

Here's a Misuzu siggy I made. What do you think?

Excuse me for being blunt, but I'm currently having a headache and I strained my neck. So I'm sorry if I'm going to sound like a total [deleted], I'll buy you a cookie if you're offended.
Your signatures aren't that good. I don't see any improvement from the first one you made till the last one. You work with 6 layers at most en even with that you don't do alot. (I could be wrong though.)
Try some of these tutorials here (http://psd.tutsplus.com/articles/web/50-great-photoshop-tutorials-for-clever-beginners/). Or this one here (http://www.noupe.com/photoshop/60-most-wanted-photoshop-tutorials-brushes-psds-and-resources.html).

I've seen that you've posted from 2008 to the present and you've made a great improvement from your first signatures and avatars on page 1.

I'm using Paint.NET at the moment, and i've only been using it for almost 1 week. As you can see by my signature, I guess i'm doing alright at an average speed of work.

I suggest trying Paint.NET (PDN for short) instead of GIMP. Paint.NET can sometimes make better signatures then GIMP can. GIMP is very complicated at times, and so it Paint.NET. But, paint.NET might make your signature life a whole much easier.

But still, great signatures! I might have to request one from you sometime in the future when i'm in need of one.

Best regards,

The cookie isn't necessary. =) Thank you for being honest, and thank you for the links to the tutorials.

I'm actually using photoshop now, not GIMP.

I'm going through a slightly obsessive Alice in Wonderland (the tim burton version) phase, and have just ruined about three promotional pictures, by putting them in this siggy. :p

we could add some little depth in your sig i still can see RAW Stocks. :3

To be honest, the colors clash really badly to me. You should look for some color theory tutorials on DA or AF.

a failed attempt at smudging.

05-23-2010, 09:58 PM
I would love to see a smudges on the back more than the front but to create depth you should think something else.

me deciding to play with lots of flatness. no depth. at all...

Start looking up some Photoshop tutorials. When I first started out, that's what I did. Everything I made slowly improved, but it took time and lots of experimenting. A really good resource I found on a Live Journal community has a lot of different tutorials that focus specifically on working with anime and manga graphics called "For All Your Toon Needs". Live Journal has a lot of really good Photoshop tutorial communities, so if you don't already have an account, you should sign up and then take a look around at all the different graphic communities. Also, start experimenting with some of the different features on Photoshop, such as using selective color, channel mixer, hue and saturation, etc. to get familiar with the different types of functions it has to offer. Also, start experimenting by blending your images with different textures and trying out new types of brushes. Well, I hope I've been somewhat helpful. Just keep practicing! : )

Elizabeth of York, thank you for the information about 'For All Your Toon Needs.' I really like the tutorials on there. I tried a few simple icon tutorials, and ended up with these results.
