Out of all the Zelda games, which do you think is the best, and why?

For me its between Majora's mask and Ocarina of time.

They got really good story lines and very fun to play. Ocarina took me a awhile to finish though, I had to get the book to help me through some parts to it. Majora's mask was easy though, I didn't know I had to set back time to go back to day 1, so the first time I played it I was like "Uhh, did I just die?" lol. But I cought onto it quickly and figured out what to do.

But all together, those two are the best to me.

Ocarina of Time, I don't think I really need to explain why it's just epic. 2nd is the Wind Waker highly underrated as with the Gamecube itself IMO.

OoT! Words can't describe how epic it is!

That's a hard one. I'm tempted to say Ocarina of Time, like everyone else has (which was great), but that's too typical.

So, i'll just choose A link to the Past for the SNES. This was the first zelda game i've ever played on a console, and I recieved it for christmas one year with the SNES system. Since then, the nostalgia remains with me.

And, not to mention the music and the 16-bit graphics were/are just awesome.

Yes, I tend to like classic, older games, rather then the flashy new ones. There was something about them that was just better.

Ocarina... isn't quite as impressive if you played Twilight Princess first, which is me.

However, my best and most favorite is Link's Awakening. It had fun, it had plot, and it had tears. My tears, at the end. Play that game, through to the end. Tell me you don't get choked up whenever you hear The Ballad of the Wind Fish.

This is a really tough one. I'm gonna have to eliminate the original two because they're too hard D: I'll also have to eliminate Phantom Hourglass because of the Ocean Temple, although the rest of it was really fun. Four Swords would also have to be eliminated, even though its really good, it was just short and I didn't like the saving system. Wind Waker was fun but the boat riding got tedious after a while. Minish Cap was great, like really great but it's not number 1 D: Twilight princess was also really really great but it's also not number 1. Ok so it's a tie between Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time because dude they're both great, the gameplay was awesome in both, the stories were great, the sidequests were fun, the dungeons were both challenging and fun, and they're both unique.

Ok so it goes in this order from favorite to least favorite:
Majora's Mask
Ocarina of Time
Twilight Princess
Minish Cap
Wind Waker
Four Swords
Phantom Hourglass
A link to the past
Zelda 2
The Legend of Zelda

( I did not mention Oracles of ages, oracle of seasons, link's awakening, or spirit tracks because I have not played them, although I plan on playing ST this weekend!)

I only started playing OoT (properly) after I played Twilight Princess and I still think OoT is a helluva lot better.

Oh yes. Link's Awakening was [to me at least], the best zelda game for the gameboy. I loved the music, too.

OoT is definitely overrated, but still an amazing game. My favorite would probably be Windwaker, or Zelda 2.

My favorite would have to be Wind Waker. I think OoT gets way too much attention, much like Final Fantasy 7.

I also love the original NES game, i'd say its my second favorite from the franchise. I hated Twilight Princess =/

I played most of the Zelda games as they were released, and I'd still have to say Ocarina of Time. It still remains one of the most well-structured games ever made.

A very close second would be Wind Waker, which is far underrated.

My favorite is Link to the Past: Four Swords for the GBA. There is nothing better than having Zelda on the go, and it was a pretty fun game to play since you get so many items to use.

OoT is definitely overrated, but still an amazing game. My favorite would probably be Windwaker, or Zelda 2.

You can't really call a game that revolutionized the gaming industry and the way that all action/adventure/rpg games "over rated" because it's not. It lived up to hope and hype, and did so much more, in the same fashion that Super Mario 64 did. The way games of similar nature were done was changed forever by those games and their design. It has a pivotal role in the history of gaming.

Over rated is a very inaccurate word.

My personal favorite is Majora's Mask. I love the re-playability (don't get me wrong, I've played through every Zelda installment on consoles [except Adventure of Link] multiple times). I love how you can get EVERYTHING, and then start all over from Day 1. And replay your favorite events as many times as you want without having to start the game over. You have absolute mastery of time. The story really had nothing to do with Zelda (it would almost seem more appropriate to refer to MM as OoT, and OoT as Legend of Zelda 64 or Origins or some such arbitrary title), but more so to do with how the Ocarina could affect and control time, and how the first Link went to search for Navi and his adventures in a different land. But that was ok. It was amazing.

OoT can never be overrated. It was amazing and did revolutionalize Zelda games everywhere. I have not played OoA or OoS, played only a little bit of MC, never was interested in MM, haven't gotten to TP, don't have PH, and will be playing ST after Christmas. Taking out all those, this is the order I place them all.

OoT
AlttP
LA
4SA
LoZ1
LoZ2
WW

I don't like WW mostly because of all the sailing around. Also, I did not like Terra as a Zelda Substitute. LoZ2 is low because of how it detracted from the usual Zelda puzzle game focus and became more about the fighting. Though, it introduced Shadow Link, and that makes it better than WW. I picked OoT because it really did revolutionize Zelda games. I loved the creativity of the levels, the sages, the music, the items, all of it. It was pure amazing. AlttP was good too, very fun. But moving through the Light and Dark World wasn't as fun as it was moving between Young and Adult Link.

I thought MM was about how Link went to search for Navi after she left Link in OoT o_o

I say its a toss up between oot and lttp. Its impossible for me to choose one over the other. The music and gameplay in both games are unmatched. Theyre both my fav games of all time.

Majora's Mask, Link to the past, and Wind Waker for me.

I have a hard time knowing where to place the handheld games into my lists, because there's been some great ones, but I don't think I gave them the attention they deserved so I'll keep my top 3 the way they are.

By far in my opinion, Link to the Past for the SNES was the best

Wind Waker is by far my favorite.

There's just something about having to actually sail in real time from island to island that seems incredibly satisfying. It gives the player a lot more, and seriously takes on the "getting there is half the fun". The cell-shading was beautiful and the sound track was pretty awesome and un-repetitive. (which is probably the most important thing for me in a game, because I can't stand when things get repetitive.)

A very soild game in all. Long, but never boring, and always had you wanting to continue on playing. Good story, Great music, fun. I'd give it a 9/10
