Since Christmas is almost here and I've been watching alot of Christimas movie specials on T.V, I've been wondering what some of your favorite Christmas movies are and why. ^___^

I really love The Polar Express. *Sigh* The ending always gets to me, ;_; I wish there was a magical train that took me to the North Pole when I was a little kid.

I remember the old Christmas movies featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald. Those were the days....

I also like Home Alone 1,2 and 3.

Gremlins is probably my favorite Christmas movie.

Why?

Because it isn't a stupid, Aesop heavy load of moralistic garbage. It's a movie that is just good damn fun which happens to be set during the Christmas season.

And, while we're at it, the worst Christmas movie in my book is Christmas With the Kranks. Why?

Its message essentially boiled down to "conformity and commercialism are good". The plot involves the lead characters deciding to not expensively celebrate Christmas and thus incurring the wrath of their neighbors, who Roger Ebert described as "the Stepford Christmas-enforcers". For the record, we're supposed to be on the neighbors' side. Not to mention the scary undertone that hits you when you suspect that if a non-Christian moved into their neighborhood, those nosy neighbors would probably be planning a lynch mob Christmas party.

The Polar Express was indeed a fantastic movie. Great animation, lengthy story, it was light-hearted and made my day.

That's one I never think of as a "Christmas movie" but I suppose it is. Therefore it's on the list. My list being Christmas movies I can actually watch more than once or don't cringe to see popping up year after year (*cough*A Christmas Story*coughcough*)

Actually, the only other one on my list is Miracle on 34th Street. And I mean of course the 1947 version, not the garbage-worthy '94 remake. How many other Christmas movies have three Oscars and a best picture Oscar nomination? It's beautifully written, acted, and directed, with a simple message delivered in a (*gasp!*) subtle manner.

I'm shocked it wasn't mentioned prior to posting. Everyone obviously needs to brush up on their Christmas movie fare ;p

- The Grinch (animated)
- It's a Wonderful Life
- A Christmas Story (played EVERY year)
- Scrooge Movies (the older ones are best)
- Home Alone (only 1 & 2, not the other crappy sequels)

I couldn't care less about any of the recent christmas movies.

Jesus Of Nazereth, which tells of the real meaning of Christmas. Alas, other than that, I prefer A Charlie Brown Christmas, sorry.
