View Full Version : What do you do to calm down?

So, as this thread says, I'm interested what do you people do to calm down. Where do you release your anger? Do you hit a pillow? Or just lie down and wait? Or something else?
For example: When I want to calm down, I do the "Blood-rushing thing". I recline my head down and wait for at least one minute and then I raise it up in an instant. Not a really good feeling, but it helps.
So, what do you people do? :)

True , same here. Thats actually one of the best things in my list.
But what i usually do is dance >_>
I dont know how but it really calms me down.

Listen to music and play my guitar. Oh theres another thing that I calm down with that involves my hand that I can't discuss here xD

i scribble down my feelings in my rough book, punch the wall or someone.(lol)look at nature..listen to music, classical music especially, read a book or just look at nature

If I want to calm down I just close my eyes and walk around, bumping into things really help me to look at the thing making me mad from a different perspective, plust my head hurts and I can't thinking about things for a while

Depends if I'm nervous or angry etc. Generally I listen to something very fast(like D&B or Metal) and go crazy for a few min. That or Ill just smoke a fag or two.

Well it depends where I am and what got me mad. If I am at home and one of my parents got me really mad I might just yell at them or tell them to get out of my room. Some ways I cope with this and try to calm myself are just being on the internet or laying down.

well...I usualy listen to some of disturbed or A7X songs

even though some people says that metal music can make u agrissive

but in my case.......metal is my oasis XD

*thinks* I abuse my homework by throwing it around and slamming it on my desk and such.
I also listen to music
or come online and read a couple pms.
^^ that helps me calm down, a lot.

For example!
Today, my dad found my mp3 player in the washer AFTER he had washed my little brother's clothes. And so, I put all of my books on the ground (more like threw) and turned on my radio. Then, I came online. ^.^ I calmed down. =)

I calm down by listening to all different kinds of music, and it helps me a lot when I'm stressed to the max.

I usually just watch television or play a fighting game where I can destroy my opponent. If some form of technology is not readily available then I just go outside and quick a ball against a wall until I grow tired.

I'll go for a long walk if I have time. Sometimes I'll just sit and try to breathe deeply. Sometimes I'll also take a shower, read a book, take a nap or listen to music.

Kuk Sool really calms me down when I feel stressed. I have gone in before after having a bad day feeling stressed enough to give the class a miss and end up feeling a lot better after class.

Listen to some awesome Dragonforce melodies, and try to sing like the vocalist. He has an amazing voice *_*; I wish to have..

Talk to my girlfriend, she makes everything better <3

Either that, play the guitar and make Dragonforce inspired riffs. Or write something for my fan-fiction, or draw. Usually tends to calm me.

Well, usually I go play a violent video game to vent out my anger. ( I shoot you in da face!!!1! Shotgun to the head! Take that zombie!)

If one is not available, I go to my parents house, go get a shovel and just dig. I started doing this last week and it makes me focus on the digging and not on the BS that made me angry.

If the shed with the shovel is locked, I go clean. It doesn't matter what, just as long as I'm doing something with my hands to keep them from ringing someone's neck.

The last resort? I go and put my rabbit in a giant pot. This usually puts me in a good mood since she looks ridiculous in there.

Some interesting methods out there. I recommend eating something. Whenever I'm angry its usually directly proportional to how hungry I am.

Calming down is a weird process though isnt it? I mean you can sorta distract yourself from whatevers got you het up, but then suddenly get all mad again at some little spark, as it were, to the tinderbox of your umbridge.

An interesting divide seems to be between people who would rather sort it out themselves (e.g. using video games, music or excerise as a form of stress release) and the people who would rather talk it out (whenever I try this it ends up as a rant and generally ineffective). I think I prefer the 1st - few civillian casualities...
