Apparently, KFC is market testing a new sandwich called the "Double Down Chicken Sandwich". The "sandwich" consists of two pieces of bacon, two pieces of cheese, special "Colonel sauce" between two pieces of crispy chicken.

That's right. The chicken IS the bread!!

So far, only Rhode Island and Nebraska are selling the sandwich for now.

Who wants to try it? Who HAS tried it?

That sounds ridiculous. And really, with only bacon, cheese, and sauce between the chicken that can hardly be called a sandwich. They really need to add some more in there, like lettuce or more chicken, to be a real sandwich. I don't think it'll do well.

Sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen...SO I MUST HAVE IT. Doesn't sound too appetizing though.

Hypothetically, I'd hit it. Realistically, I don't eat much KFC and never sandwiches.

It's more of a pile of meat and cheese rather than a sandwich. But if it comes to California, I will try it.

OOH!!! I have an idea. Put bread in between the chicken!!!

To be honest, I think that is what KFC should do anyway. I mean, it seemed like a good idea to take out the bread and just use the chicken (Wendy's actually takes the bread off of their sandwiches on request), but it could be a really be a good sandwich if they used bread.

Of course, if they used bread in the first place, this little controversy wouldn't have existed at all.:p

you guys are too analytical xD
i mean, fast food is bad for you all it's own,
so why stop at cheesebugers when you
you can kill yourself in a much tastier,
filling way? personally, i'm a vegaterian,
so i wouldn't eat it even if it sounded good.

Well it dose look interesting but I can't say that I would try it seeing as I don'y particularly like a few of the inexpedience used. The chicken sounds good with cheese but not the other stuff. Ya I am a picky eater sometimes.

It's going to more than likely fall apart on you within the first bite. I'd take it to go (to add bread myself), or order a biscuit or whatever KFC offers for breads to make a sandwich out of it.

Edit: For everyone who said they'll try it: have fun with the extra ten pounds you're going to get from one single chicken sandwich.

But if our figures hold true, and KFC won't confirm they don't, the Double Down is more caloriffic than the Wendy's Triple with Everything and Cheese (1700 mg sodium, 960 calories, 26 gms of fat), the Burger King Stacker Quad (1770 sodium, 1020 calories, 69 gms of fat), and compares closely to the fat, salt and calorie totals of three McDonalds Big Macs put together (3060 sodium, 1620 calories, 87 gms fat).

Also, does this redefine 'chicken sandwich'? I honestly believe that's where the idea came from.

I don't really see what this has to do with being analytical. Also, your post comes off a bit "holier than thou"ish.

I think that the "sandwich" falling apart might end up being an issue. It certainly does not like a travel-type of "sandwich".

I am imagining car crashes caused by the sheer amount of grease on the steering wheels of people who were eating this while driving.:p

Sounds like the Bizarro version of the lettuce wrapped Atkins sandwiches. I suppose this one has no carbs either. Id try it once and only once. It doesnt sound like a brilliant marketing idea.

I understand selling it in Rhode Island since its as big as my living room, but why Nebraska?

I wonder how long it is going to take for the rest of the fast food places to attempt such a bizzare style in food choices.

And while most mock it, the sad part is, someone will end up eating it.
