How do you people feel about them? I think that's giving out TOO much info about yourself. The whole point of being on the web is being anonymous. My birthday passed not too long ago, but I was debating whether or not I should announce it to people here.

When did that happen? Being relatively anonymous is a nice bonus, but it's hardly the reason why Al Gore sat down and invented the internets. But to each and his own. If you don't want to share information about yourself, that's your privilege.

Sometimes the only time anyone hears Happy Birthday is in forum threads, so I'll post to them if I know when their birthday is.
It's not as if wishing someone a Happy Birthday is stealing their soul. I don't think, anyway. Can't do much with a birthdate.

I'm fine with it. I don't broadcast my birthday myself, nor do I make a big deal of it. But when someone decided to wish me a happy birthday I have no reason to,and don't, complain.

i think its great if people wish you a happy birthday, if you dont want them knowing the date then just dont tell them, or dont post it in your profile.
besides it never hurt to say happy birthday, i mean its supposed to be a happy day cause thats the day you were born

I post in them if I know or pay attention to that person. I didn't make one for myself last month, and no one else did either. Don't take that the wrong way, I'm fine with that. I was too busy drinking that night to notice till the next morning.

oh and i dont think theres anything wrong with just giving your birthday, like people said ots not like people will stalk you and it doesnt really hurt. And sometimes its fun if someone you know has the same birthday as you ^^

It is his punishment for being a troll and an overall very annoying and rude person. He insulted some the mods and...that didn't go well. So, unless he can consistently show that he make posts and threads like a normal person with average intelligence (without the obvious racism and ignorance), he will have the filter.
Anyway, Mavericker, you are not required to announce your birthday. Your birthday only gives reveals so much about you (do you realize how many people here might have the SAME birthday?). In fact, you could give the announcement a few days before or after your birthday so that we couldn't figure it out.:rolleyes:

It is more difficult to take someone serious with the Swedish Chef filter, so it really does make sense to have it in place.
