I decided to take a break from both the Sound Horizon and the novels I've been working on to do something a little easier. And since I've recently crossed the International Date Line a couple of times, I thought of this song.

yuuyake ni nigiwau EAPOOTO wakare o oshimiau TAAMINARU
furikaerazu ni yukou omoide tsumesugita mitai SUUTSUKEESU
imagoro MESSEJI uketotte tohou ni kurete'ru ni chigainai
chijou no IRUMINEESHON nijimu futari no machinami ga chiisaku naru

In the crowded airport at dusk, in the terminal where people reluctantly say their goodbyes
I'll leave without looking back, with my suitcase seeming too full of memories
By now I'm sure you've gotten my message; you must be confused
The earth's illumination blurs; the streets and houses of our town become tiny [1]

anata no attakai SHERUTAA de kurasu hazu datta kedo

I should have lived in your warm shelter
But I'm crossing the dotted line drawn on the map, because I don't want to have any regrets

mawaru mawaru MERII GOO RANDO yume o hakobu chikyuu yo
moshimo kibou no denchi ga kirechatta nara tomatte shimau deshou
ashita e to ashita e to shiawase no tane o makou
kaze ni magire anata no machi e nabiite
nanigenaku kokoro no sukima kusugutte kusugutte ageru

Oh, spinning, spinning merry-go-round, Earth that carries dreams
If the batteries of hope die, I wonder if you'll stop turning
I'll sow the seeds of happiness to tomorrow, to tomorrow
Cutting through the wind, they'll flutter to your hometown
And without meaning to, they'll tickle, tickle the crevices of your heart

hitori no kurashi wa arashi no you taiyou miushinatta tabibito no you
mirai no atsukaikata oshiete kureru TORISETSU ga areba ii no ni
nemurenai yoru wa kimatte umi no mukou e negai kakereba
chizu ni egakareta tensen o koete ganbaru anata ga mieru

Living alone is like a storm, like a traveller who's lost sight of the sun
It teaches me the ways of dealing with tomorrow, though I wish it would come with a user's manual
A sleepless night is sure to follow if I send my wish across the sea
Crossing the dotted line drawn on the map, I can see you doing your best

mawaru mawaru MERII GOO RANDO yume o sakasu chikyuu yo
moshimo egao no hizashi o abinakatta nara shibonde shimau deshou
aitakute aitakute hajikesou na tameiki de
fukuranda kimochi wa kikyuu ni natte
hakanage ni anata no hoshizora yurashite yurashite iru wa

Oh, spinning, spinning merry-go-round, Earth that makes dreams bloom
If they couldn't bask in the light of smiles, would they wither and die?
Wanting to see you, wanting to see you, with a sigh that seems as though it may burst
My feelings have swelled into a balloon
Fleetingly wavering, wavering in your starry sky

mawaru mawaru MERII GOO RANDO yume o hakobu chikyuu yo
moshimo kibou no denchi gakirechatta nara tomatte shimau deshou
ashita e to ashita e to shiawase no tane o makou
soshite mou ichido kirei na mi o musundara
itsu no hi ka anata no shisen kusugutte kusugutte ageru
matte'te matte'te kureru?

Oh, spinning, spinning merry-go-round, Earth that carries dreams
If the batteries of hope die, I wonder if you'll stop turning
I'll sow the seeds of happiness to tomorrow, to tomorrow
And then if they bear beautiful fruit once more
Someday they'll tickle, tickle your gaze
Will you wait, wait for me?

[1] Due to the positioning of the space, I know "nijimu" is probably modifying the town rather than the lights, but the latter is so much neater that I couldn't resist translating it that way. Dammit, Japanese, you and your random hanging noun phrases. I'll fix it later, though, if this is an unacceptable departure from the literal meaning.

>振り返らずに行こう 思い出詰めすぎたみたい スーツケース
>I'll leave without looking back, with my suitcase seeming too full of memories
The imagery here is that the suitcase is pasted with so many travel stickers. Yet I don't know how to express this...

>あなたのあったかいシェルターで 暮らすはずだったけど
>I should have lived in your warm shelter
Your delivery of 'hazu datta' should be a bit different - the 'should have' sounds forced.

>一人の暮らしは嵐のよう 太陽見失った旅人のよう
>Life alone is like a storm, like a traveller who's lost sight of the sun
"Living alone" perhaps? It sounds different if you put it the previous way.

>未来の扱い方教えてくれる トリセツがあればいいのに
>I count the ways of dealing with tomorrow, wishing it would come with a user's manual
Not "I" but "living alone", you'd notice with 'kureru'. ...eh you sure that's not 'oshiete'?

Ah, sorry for not suggesting particular t/l corrections, I lost all my t/l energy doing Shin Ai. btw will you'll be doing more Hirose?

>Not "I" but "living alone", you'd notice with 'kureru'. ...eh you sure that's not 'oshiete'?

... oh lord, what an idiot I am. You're right.

Thank you for your help, anyway! And I might eventually do more of her stuff, but I'm a pretty distractable translator so I don't want to make any promises.
