I've been wondering this. Would you rather get bit by an alligator or snake?

Alligator: Will most likely rip your limbs off, and the pain is much worse from it. You will probably die due to bleeding to death.

Snake: Preferably a highly deadly snake, like a black mamba, a boa constrictor, or whatever you want. (Make it deadly, not one that just bites with no venom) You will probably die from venom in a couple of minutes/hours.

I honestly don't know. I'd flip a coin to see which one. I'd like to probably get bit by a gator and become true Floridian.

Edit: I'm slow

I'd say, a snake. Copperhead. Their venom is hemotoxic, but it's not very potent and rarely causes fatalities

There's antivenom, but there's no cure for torn limbs short of prosthetics and painful surgery.

Depends, is the snake poisonous and how big the gator. If it's bigger than 5 feet, your freaking out of your mind if you think I'm gonna get bit by it.
Should of clarified that. Gator is 8 feet long, and around 1000 pounds.
Snake is huge and highly deadly (still your choice on the species of snake).

A snake because you can extract the venom so you have a better chance of surviving.

You mean like this?

They make good hats and suspenders. Of course, those were crocodiles, who knows what would've happened if those were gators.
Getting bitten by even the biggest of constrictor snakes isn't gonna kill you, and death by asp bite seems to be an easy way to die.

I'd rather be bitten by a snake, dunno which because I don't know much about snakes. Let's say a poisonous snake, only because I don't want to be ripped apart by a gator.

Well, at least the venom from a poisonous snake can be sucked out. Well, if it's done right, that is.

As for an alligator, you have about as much of a chance as Captain Hook did in Peter Pan.

Edit: Wait, that's a Crocodile, right? ah ... nevermind. I need to watch more animal planet, apparently ...

Ahh, that's a tough one O_O
I was thinking of getting bitten by a gator, but that would depend on which part ... Plus, either way, I'm skinny, and meatless enough, it could break my whole skeletal system automatically x_x
So that leads me, to a snake o.o It has more chance of a better life in the future o.O [than living missing a limb] But I hope when this happens, I'll be bring a machete with me, so I can cut it's head off before it squeezes me Dx

It's a croc, look at it's snout. I watch too much Animal Planet. -.-

I had to think about this. And I say I'm going to be a sissy. Snake all the way. My grandfather was a survival specialist and so I know how to stop a snake from attacking. Like a constricting snake.

I pick alligator because I think it would be a faster death.

A snake. I can cure the poison, I can't cure a a ripped out limb.

I'd go with a snake. I'd prefer to die faster, then feel pain for awhile and then die.
It would be quite amusing to see MaruDashi(preferably in a cosplay outfit ;-)) wrestle down an aligator though, and somehow live...XD

I'd rather not be torn to bits, so I chose snake.

Depending on what kind, I might not die from it anyway, even if it is "deadly". It all depends on the situation.

Not to mention I wouldn't be able to fight an alligator. The snake may miss, and hit my boot. I usually wear combat boots out in the woods, so it might not penetrate, or penetrate fully, which would give me the chance to kill it.

Does anyone find it funny how non of us want to be torn limb to limb?

Fortunately, like any Floridian knows, neither will come after you unprovoked (with a sole exception in America... which Floridians should also know).

Most snakes, even venomous ones, don't put venom into their bites. Younger ones generally do because they haven't learned to ration their venom doses yet. Gators do two things to kill: they drown prey and they death roll. Having seen victims of both snake bites where the venom went to work, and of gators where a limb was latched onto, I have no desire to tangle with either. In my corner of the world, snakes are more likely to cause less permanent damage with their bites than are gators.

Edit: Oh, revile, fighting back if a gator's latched on is the only thing that will give you a chance to live. It's really a matter of "If you don't fight, you'll die, if you do, you'll have a chance."

A snake because it's faster. The croc attacks fast, but it's attacks are less lethal. And it would take more than one attack to kill. A snake could just bite once and your dead. A snake also starts with the letter S. :)

id choosew snake, when youd get bit youd be like "what was that?"

with a crocodile youd be like "OH S*** THERS A F-ING CROCODILE BITING MY LEG OFF!!!!"

id much prefer a semi-painful death than a simply terrifying one...

I'd rather be bitten by a snake because you can suck the venom out. But if that idea fails my other reason will be is that it's lesspainful than an alligator.

Venom enters the bloodstream extremely quickly, and trying to suck it out is ineffective. The best way for a bite victim to prevent venom from quickly moving through the bloodstream is to remain calm, keep the wound below the heart, and avoid running or doing anything that would increase the heart rate.

Well, if I'm put in a stituation where I have to be bitten by a 'gator or one of the top ten most venomous snakes, I'd choose the Gator. You can always heal a damaged limb, but good luck if a Black Mamba bites you.

You do realize that a fatal snake bite is going to take at least an hour, if not days of antagonizing pain to kill you, where as a large angry alligator is going to be able to wrap it up in under 10, and that's assuming he decides to drowned you instead of letting you bleed out via a major artery or breaking your neck.

I would say bitten by a snake. I wouldn't want to feel the agonizing pain from an alligator's chomp or even be tossed around. I would hope it's an adult venomous snake though and not a juvenile, for the fact that an adult is less likely to deliver a full load of toxins on its first strike giving you a chance to distance yourself before a second strike could be taken. Also, you'd want to back away slowly compared to if you were being chased by an alligator. In an alligator situation I hear the best way to try and get away is by running zig-zags because the alligator has a fast straight charge but when it needs to make various swerves it takes a bit longer. I would think there would be more panic involved in that one, so that's also why I'd prefer the snake bite over the alligator situation.

I meant constricting you to death. Sorry for the late response.
