Hmm, easy question. How many stars do you believe there are in the original Super Mario 64. Note - You cannot count any images of the power stars in the game and keep it mind that there are 120 possible stars to obtain but actually in rumor more even though they are not counted as "actual stars"

From what I have played, I count 121 stars in Super Mario 64.

The other star that is not counted is the star which when is obtained after beating Bowser 3. A big star appears in the world which you can obtain by touching.

There is no such star in the game.

Are there the same amount of stars in the Super Mario 64 DS game? I never beat it, but I was wondering.

After a little searching, I found that there are 30 extra stars in the DS version. I believe these are the new Castle Secret Stars.

Well I don't know how many are in the N64 version, but there are definitely 150 in the DS version. 151 if you count the one after beating Bowser.

The highest I've ever gotten was 117 (118 if you count the last star). I never found those last 3 stars...

The only things up there are Yoshi, a few 1-up mushrooms, and a box which gives you red bu-Wings. Yoshi himself gives you 100 lives and a third jump.

i've only had 116 stars but every one tells me that the 120 stars open the cannon near the lake to go to the top of castle

Yes indeed it does and once you get up there shinigami, even though you most likely know and I won't hide it in spoilers.

"Yoshi" is up there.
