View Full Version : Beauty In Simplicity

I'm starting out making wallpapers, and wanted to know if anyone else things this (http://melchoir.wwnet.net/Wallpapers/CELAS%20GUN%201024.JPG) looks good.
Like I'm saying, simplicity. I prefer to keep my backgrounds as uncluttered as possible, and a lot of the wallpapers being made LOOK GREAT, but seem to clutter the screen.
Gimme some feedback. This is currently my comp background. it works out for the standard windows icons and whatnot. I also like a dark background, so this is nice for me.

Thanks in advance,

Oh, here's another (http://melchoir.wwnet.net/Wallpapers/ALUCARD%20CROSS%201280.JPG), Another (http://melchoir.wwnet.net/Wallpapers/ALU1280.JPG), And the last one. (http://melchoir.wwnet.net/Wallpapers/CELAS.JPG) This last one has already been submitted, so the animewallpapers.com thingie is in the lower-left.

LOVE the dark backgrounds. And hellsing :) . All the stuff has been pulled from the comics. Great art throughout.

These are mostly manga styled wallpapers. I personally like simple walls too. Manga scans fit monotone walls perfectly usually. Nice work on the walls, although I just think Celas (did I get her name right?) could be made *juuuust* a little bit cleaner.

Yea those look great. Simple walls are cool it seems the walls I make and use now are so busy that I dont really use my desktop anymore I hide my icons and my desktop is pritty devoid its more like an art centerpiece, Im lucky I have a second moniter which allows me to keep my main moniter unclutterd. But if your wall is going to be the most functional, dark and simple is the best. I like the idea of your first wall but i dont like the transiton from black to the manga scan. My fav outa the 4 walls you posted is the last one, save. Good job and keep on making em.

It doesn't strike me as simplicity as much as it is just laziness..... most people could do that with paint... in five minutes.

I kinda agree with Miko, those are alittle too simple. Although they are very functional, they could still have some more flair and style and still not be busy.

I'm a fan of simplicity in my walls as well but on the whole, those are a bit simple there. its true, I could do that in leterally 1 minute in Photoshop (maybe 2 with Photoshop loading).

You can make simple wallpapers but still put effort into making them look 'artistically worked on'. This is my idea of a simple Wallpaper (that has been worked on enough to be more than a copy and paste + paint bucket job).

Yeah, I know its one of mine, but its an example I think works in this case.

i agree with the simplicity idea.... but not always
sometimes its fun to actually look at something on ur desktop
but anyway, i like the 1st one better and asher is right about the cleaning
but mabey add a liiiitle touch of something on them, because its real they do look like paint-done
but they are still good, i dont say its crap, like certain other pple...(always negative)

i just remember i did some pretty simple walls a couple of time ago,
tell me what do you think?

I think that of the ones that you posted, I liked the third one the best. There is beauty in simplicity (this (http://www.animewallpapers.com/wallpapers/miyu/full_1_1024.asp) is a good example of how a simple wall can be beautiful.) The wall I refrenced is NOT one of mine, but one I just happen to like a lot.

You need to be careful with the simple as well as the complex. I personally believe your other three were a bit *too* simple. Trust me, I've worked with black and white manga images before, you can make it a blit more complex while still being simple.

Still, good work.

Yeah, Manga pictures are simple by themselves (in most cases) so it wouldn't hurt to add some to the backdrops or have more than one picture of the character you want on the wallpaper.

I use to make really simple wallpapers that turns out that it was too simple but I tend to like simplicity but also something really crazy and artistic as well as long as it compliments the subject.
