Hmmm, I actually posted this last May (April?) on the previous incarnation of this forum, about a day before it crashed (or went offline, or whatever happened)... so I figured I'd put it up again since nobody really got a look at it:

Nice. It could maybe use some text...it seems a bit empty.

it's nice! the image is a good size. I would change the background color to something that matches the character. Would you consider orange (color in suit) or maybe grey tones? The wallpaper is missing something though... maybe some tech.

I remember this wp, I actually saw it just before the server broke down.

It's good, I like it.

Here's the original image, as a psd file. I can save it as another format if anyone needs/wants it that way:

Konoko PSD (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/making4/konoko.psd)
Konoko JPG (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/making4/konoko%20copy.jpg)

As for the background, I never actually saved it on the psd, but I do remember how I made it. The background characters were from a small texture that used to be on part of the Oni site, which I ran through the photoshop pattern maker until I got a decent amount of randomization. I made two different layers of these "patterned" backgrounds and stacked them, then ran the mosaic filter on the top one, which I then put a gradient mask on to create the slow fade from characters into mosaic. The purple highlights on the left side were made with a third party filter called "fur" with its density turned all the way down, though I think they could be more easily made with a custom brush, especially since I no longer seem to have the filter I made them with.

I looked around, and found the bit of texture that I used to make the background:

Well, I messed around with the background a bit, just with hue and saturation. Grey was terribly dull, but orange is somewhat interesting.

I still think the blue complements the picture well, though I am considering moving its hue just a bit more towards green, making it a bit more teal.

haruko: you need photoshop to open that file. ^-^

I like the orange! it's a nice touch and really brings out the outfit. It is still missing something though. instead of making it look like the usually character-pasted-on-background wallpaper, try adding some sort of details. Things like tech, lines or boxes work well.
