I dunno, I like vibrant colors in my opinion.
However the speckle on that is quite odd.

Nonetheless, I still like the smudging that you did there...

You need to make a complete tutorial on how you smudge.

Love the visible flow on the arms <33 Color combos are pretty well composed too, thats already a double hearts here XD And I really don't know why the simple purple seems so perfect in there

Very perfect, the outline on the foreground gave me some new ideas now.

Pretty good Midnight ^_^ Way much better on what I can do, I know what you mean about school --Sigh-- I just can't get a grip of it lately, to much signature making, and photoshopping. I just can't get enough of the photoshop, anyways the first sig looks flawless good job there. Second sig is a good one as well exclusion perhaps? Lol. Last one I like too, defining edges is the way to go. =) Keep at it.

I don't know Midnight...
It seems that you are losing those vibrant colors that you used to be so good at initializing.

The signature for Kersheys was really well done, but the colors really looked bland.
Also, the colors for the FMA tag seemed to lost it's vibrancy as well.

The FMA tag could use a bit more depth as well, and perhaps blur a bit of the negative spacing.

These are still pretty damn good though Midnight.
So keep it up, and don't ever be discouraged by our often misunderstood leader of Intuition GFX.

Interesting. I like the concept and the way she's integrated into the background but I think the gold circles puts it off. The one in your sig is much better and I love how you managed to put a reflection of her in the water.

Loverly sigs. I love the colors and the bubbles on Serated's sig. Also very nice background - great colors with the golds and yellows.

The second sig looks great (the final result). I agree with Kersheys - the reflection in the water is much better than the golden circles at the bottom. Very nicely done with the blue lighting.

I actually found the golden circles to be quite interesting.
It seemed like you had a good idea going on, but the colors aren't so...
Vibrant. Love the vibrant colors that you usually have.
Then again it was a work in progess.

This one im not to sure about. The background isnt bad but does kinda throw your eyes everywhere and the yellow and white box i think would of been better if it was a vector style sig. So i dont like that as much. love the colors.

Do you use brushes to have those mist looking effects or plain smudging? They look much smoother than most of the smudge sigs around, I cant help but think there's more fiddling to it than that? hehe, GJ! GJ!

akuchi (Love you current by the way) - I only use default brushes, along with my self created smudge brushes. Soo..I guess the misty looking effect must be from the smudge..or some other technique I'm unaware.

I tried Unli style on Serated's lovely extract, but failed.
Unli is clearly the master of these tags

Really plain as of now, might go in and add some stuff. It needs something to give it depth.

You are like the 4th person to try that extraction, and you are about the 4th to make a less than happy result from it. Congrats. I made that challenge nice and difficult. Good see you guys are still struggling with it, and yes, Unli is the one who will probably get this one right.

So I said it before, and I will say it again, it is time to stop using the Topaz or the DeNoise. Give some grunge one in a while. Add in some chop or some really depth defying sharp and blur combination. Not saying its bad, I am saying its something I have seen before.

Possibly because grunge is the style I started with..Idk if most people start with it, or if I just entered sig making during the grunge phase.

Grunge is horrible if done incorrectly..I do it incorrectly ^_^

The first one is definitely better than the cropped version IMO. I don't know but the character looks better looking to the left than to the other direction. It just doesn't... feel right.

For the B&W one, I like it. A lot. The lighting really helps focus on the character.

The thick black borders seem a bit... limiting? though. But I'm fine with that. >3

I have a question though, do you start your work off with colors or do you right off go into B&W mode for it?

All the users at my friend's board have an obsession with borders, so when I make tags for him I have no choice but to add a border :p

For B&W, it is very rare for me to start a tag knowing it is going to be such - Most of the time it's a result from a failure of proper coloring, and it's not until later steps that I make the change

Mm... I have to say I like the first one more. The effect of "Fate" looks really nice on the blue background. The second one seems incomplete without it XD; The color of "Night" seems a bit out of place in the mix of bright colors though. Maybe change it to a shade of pink? Or bright green?

It's been a while since I last responded in here. :[ Sorry bro.

In post #38, I love the effect the random lines give on the image. Somehow I imagine it as an aura-type surrounding. The white version is a bit too blinding/bright so I'd go for the second one more.

In post #39: The sprite is somehow hard to see since the skin color is too similar to the bright yellow of the background. Also seems a bit too sharp. Otherwise, interesting style. It's been a long while since I've seen sprite tags going around.

I'd tone down the blue in the unli one, it's really bright, especially on a dark skin. Maybe color more of the wireframe :3

The text work is troubling me. The pixle font is fine, but the kanji underneath...maybe it needs to be smaller?
Also the colors aren't very good. Maybe add a few gradient maps or something to soften those colors??

Awesome works Middy! I especially like the colors on the second one - it's very warm, and I love the lighting.

The first one is well constructed - I like the black-white with the touches of orange.

For the third one, the right side is very nice, but the smudging on the left seems to conceal a little too much, and it's a little too blurred - maybe more sharpness.

I love the last two - great colors and lighting. Awesome sigs - I always loved your style. ^^

1st one: It seems too big for the render, crop it :3 The compo of the orange lines seems funny, but cropping may help
2nd: Vibrant reds are very pleasing to the eye, perhaps move the render up? The foreground effects are also choppy.
3rd: This is hot, I'd just sharpen some of the foreground smudge a bit
4th: I'm not too sure about the smudge here, it just seems to pop out instead of gradually going into the background, thus making it seem flat.
5th: Another hot one, just the foreground effects are too sharp again, otherwise its great :3

Archer: This is very nice and the lighting goes well, but some of the c4ds are really choppy, make sure to keep an eye on em if you rotate/resize!

2nd: The purple lighting at the top really doesn't fit, and is way too saturated. I like the colors, but once again the c4d is choppy

Shana: A bit plain, looks unfinished IMO, I'd like to see some more detailed flames

L: I think you over did the wind here, it covers up all the effects and makes it seem really plain.

Anyway, enough of my begging. Tag 1, its just really powerful. I mean, jeez, if you had all of that flow covering the entire tag, it would be pretty amazing, but I guess because the extraction was sort of lopsided, I can understand.

Tag 3, it just flows, perfectly. Its missing a few things, but sprites kind of make those things obsolete.

The Shana tag feels a bit empty. All the stuff you have going on around it really draws me in, but it feels a bit half done so to speak.

Serated, you picked my most messy .psds to request tuts on ^_^

The Archer tag would be relatively simple except for the fact that about halfway though the effects ended up centering the extract, so I was forced to add it again, resize it, and then blend it back in. That's why it probably looks lopsided, but I still think it's better than a centered focal.

I think I'll try on the Archer tag, but I don't know how it will come out.
I've never really done a tut..I think I might just outline my steps.

I was really pleased with Assassin's Creed tag as well. My c4d skills are pretty weak, but then that tag just like came out of nowhere

Hmm.... That recent one lacks a lot of your usual touches. Not a lot of contrast or emphasis on the focus. The overall signature appears really suppressed by the border too.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by contrast (just..contrast in general?), but I can see where you're coming from in terms of the focal. I was kind of more interested in experimenting with texture than I was with the sprite itself. I thought it worked out nicely in the end though, maybe I was wrong xD

I always stopped at a 4 pixel border, anything larger is a bit much. But that's for borders go all the way around the tag. But if the border is a bottom top thing, or is going to be used on just the left and the right sides, my policy is more like 6 pixels.

As for contrast, I mean the basic overall balance to the light and the dark colors. Probably should have said that instead, but who cares.

My policy is nothing under 15, nothing over 25 :p
And thanks for clarifying there with the contrast business.

For smudging, I tend to use brushes of my own creation and vary the settings from time to time. On the Sasuke tag I probably should have spent some more time cleaning it up, might have minimized the problems with the composition.

I don't know why I"m so attracted to large borders. I'm not a fan of small borders at all - its an all or none deal :D

Any suggestions for making the FMA tag more interesting? I tried some effects in front of the focal, but I couldn't control the lighting very well.

My typo is really weak. I'm rarely able to make a tag that actually accepts my sub-par text, lol.
Something I need to work on. I don't mind not having text, but there are a few instances where I wish I could have added effective typo, and it's a bad habit to just ignore typo since I'm not good at it.

@Spooky - Thanks man! I'm not very good at taking requests to be honest. I try to get them done, but time is an issue..and certain renders/stocks just don't coincide with where I feel like taking a sig.

I have a small collection of custom brushes I made for smudging that I use.
I also tend to use default brushes.
Depends on the tag, but for sigs that are almost entirely smudge odds are I used one from each selection (custom and default)

Doesn't have a border, doesn't have text, but it's very well blended.
There's alot of blending, but it's not suffocating which is great.

The only thing I prob would have done differently is put the focus on her hand a little more, but using the face works just as well.

Oh Middy, will you ever case to amaze me? I sure hope not. That Saber tag is probably my most favorite result of yours. What types of C4Ds do you tend to use above others, or more to the point, where do you find them?

The only thing about that signature I dont like is the lack of a sufficient lighting source to match her face, but above else its very good.

I'll have to check the .psd to see which c4ds I used specifically in the tag - I think they were your typical abstract c4ds though.

I don't usually work with c4ds to be honest, and I usually only use effect c4ds at that, so the Saber tag was kind of an experiment for me.

Speaking of which, latest tag. I'm not use to pastel colors and low contrast, so I"m not sure where to go from here.
