Well, I realize this isn't anime again, but I thought someone might like it... I was messing around and kind of made this by accident, then refined it a little...

There is an artist named Luis Royo, don't know if he's still alive or not, but he illustrated covers for pulp sci-fi novels in the eighties. I took this picture (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/making4/luis_royo_zendra.jpg) of his, and combined it with a bunch of layer/filter garbage, and actually made a fairly neat wallpaper from it...

looks pretty messed up ... difficult to see that woman behind the filters :D sometimes simple is better than too much ...

Well Luis Royo (along with Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell) did a lot of paintings of Marvel Characters and the like, lots of fantasy-related themes.

The wallpaper makes a nice background, but I don't think you should have used all the filters on the main image, she doesn't stand out enough.

ehhh, she was not meant to stand out. I wanted to have her connected to the background, sort of embedded in it, rather than just a disjoint picture slapped on top of it. The original was even less distinct than this one, you had to kind of cross your eyes to see her right, but it was really too distracting since she always seemed to almost be there. I think the more abstract approach looks nicer than a distinct picture this time. And there actually are no filters over the main image, she's color burned into the background, with a tweaked palette.

By the way, I had no clue that Luis Royo was still around or had a website, though it is a very dark and poorly designed website. Perhaps I shall have to poke through it sometime. There are sites with scans of most of his better cover-work out there; I can't find the link to the one where I got that picture though, since I actually got it last year.
