Hey,

I'm looking to buy my girlfriend a first series boxset of anime/magna for her birthday, i'm just not sure which one of the many hundreds to choose.

What i need specifically is a series that encorperates:
- a unique fantasy world with real depth
- an interesting (if possible, slightly introverted yet likeable) female main chracter
- a great plot

These features are more important to my cause than visually impressive fight scenes or an ubundance of weapons. (not to say they can't be included also, just not as essential).

If you guys have any ideas at all please leave a post, it'd be a big help.

Cheers,
Ben

that's pretty difficult I think. The only thing I can think of would be 'zero no tsukaime.' It's likeable enough, you should check out a couple of episodes to see what you think. It's got three seasons.

Fantasy worlds and female lead characters are a pretty rare combination, I think. (for random fantasy stuff (without the setting in a different world or so) I'd say 'Shakugan no shana' or 'fate/stay night'). I'd check those out, perhaps those come in close contact to what you're looking for.

Hope you find exactly what you want ;) !!

Get her a Slayers box set. It takes place in a fantasy world, and it also has a female protagonist. Its a bit old, but its still pretty funny.

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsubasa_Chronicle) seems to fit every bill. I highly recommend you check it out. You can't go wrong with CLAMP.

I'd recommend Chrno Crusade (not exactly flying pony fantasy, but definitely doesn't happen in real life) X)
I just realised most shows I've watched have males as the lead!
