Ok, I took a screen capture and got rid of the text, I really like this shot in the anime, I slaped this together a while back, the text is rather blaw... I know its just a screen capture but i like it, what do you think i could do to improve it ;) one of my friends hates it <_< just want input.

Hm perhaps you could find a HQ image from the series and maybe overlay on your screen cap.

hmmm i love last exile ... but ehehem ... so the wp ... um i think the main image is like filter"ed" ... or bad quality ... i agree to shihaf

Looks like your going to have some of the same problems i had with smoothing it out, but that looks really good for a screenshot. If you could find another pic from the series, you could try putting that in the foreground as the focus, but the simplicity of the wallpaper is what makes it look good.
