L is definately overdone by a LARGE margin... last con i went to there was a group of 20+ L's in a giant group, it was really dissapointing...

one of the reasons the top three are like that is (suprisingly) they're all dubbed... hmmm, coincidence?

its mostly because people are too lazy/inept to cosplay as un-dubbed anime...


i prefer to see lesser known anime characters walking around, its fun to see how many i can name

It's more like they're too lazy to play someone from a show that doesn't have humans. If you cos as someone from Star Blazers or Jubei-chan you get a "What the hell?!"

The first con I went to, At least half of the populous were naruto characters. The other half were L's, and Org 13s.
And then there were the outsiders. EG. the men who dressed as Chi from chobits, Haruhi from Haruhi Suzumiya, and the occaisional pink mech.

I would have to say that that list is pretty much right. God I see like 500 Naruto's every time i go to a Con.

If they were lazy of inept, you'de think they'de just skip cosplaying altogether.

I feel that if someone likes something, why not just let them be with the "in" crowd? You can coplay as something different altogether, therefore making yourself more unique in the first place.

L is only so largely cosplayed because he is so basic to do. Nothing fancy about the way he dresses, and yet he's still recognizable.

Us American fans are too busy yelling "KAWAII" to do anything remotely creative. I personally don't do cosplay, because all I can cosplay as is Chad from Bleach, and I hate Bleach.

Well that was the most generalized slapped together list I've seen.
At my first Con-experience (07)I was surrounded by Narutos, Sasukes, Roy Mustangs, Ed Elrics, and generic Organization XIII and Akatsuki people.
My second (08) was a little more mixed, but still Naruto people, and all the anime mascot-teers (any anime character seen on Shonen Jump covers and or the characters even your litttle cousin can name) were there in large numbers.
Maybe this year I'll participate in this "costume play" you people speak of, but find a more out there obscure character.

Honestly, I've never even been to a con and I could tell you just from when I hear about them that all of those are over done. I think people need to branch out more.

I've seen all those animes but still I didn't expect L to be at the top, I thought Ichigo would be at the top. Personally I'd want someone more epic and unheard of like, Vampire Knight Chars, or any vampire for that matter. But, I guess noone has that much variety to choose from to get that answer... *sigh*.

Most conventions i go to everyone is either Naruto or Bleach and bearly anyone from lesser known anime

There are other more, but I can think of only 5 anime for now, coz they are so overlydone. . .@~@
And its not that that itself is wrong, just that "some" tend to turn their cosplays into costrips. . .>,<

Like for example (I do hope I dont get to hit anyone so please dont sue me),
You're going to cosplay an Ulquiorra Shiffer when you're quite tanned and not even planing to put white make-up in at least you're face, or a crossdress Sakura from Naruto when you're not really to sacrifice to shave you're legs, I mean, put some effort in it man, not just on a whim. . .>,<

Ha ha... I though Naruto would be first and L second. I'm also kind of suprised Chii didn't make that list, but Chobits did get mentioned at the end.

At Otakon last year at least a third of the people there were from naruto, bleach, or deathnote.

There were also at least twenty gaurds from metal gear solid

Wow, I thought Naruto or Bleach would be first XD I'm going to Anime Expo in July and I was going to Cosplay Nagisa, but I won't be able to finish in time for the Expo. I've been rather busy lately with no time to work on it. Though I'm shocked Inuyasha's on there. Don't see many people Cosplay him anymore.

L is def at the top. At AZ, there were so many Ls, though not as much as AZ08. The top three are definitely correct, because at AZ08, there were more bleach than anything else and AZ09 were more Naruto. I think it's because Bleach and Naruto have become quite popular in America. From my limited con experience, i think that list is pretty dead on accurate.
