Megaman X5.

One of the greatest OSTs ever, IMO.

Instead of making an individual list, here's the composers I enjoy:

Nobuo Uematsu, Motoi Sakuraba, Shoji Meguro, Koji Kondo, and Koichi Sugiyama.

And games I do not know the composers of:

Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur (series).

Yoko Shimomura's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoko_Shimomura) music in Legend of Mana was amazing.

To describe the music, I'll quote a customer review from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000058AB4/qrayg-20/ref=nosim).

When people think of "The Legend of Mana", they usually think of the game. When I think of LOM, I think of the music.

Why? Well, the game was great but one thing stood out in my mind more than anything else. The amazing soundtrack. The opening theme dazzles you, and it certainly wouldn't have to same dramatic effect if Yoko Shimomura's Theme of Mana wasn't there for us to listen to. And the tragedy of the Jumi just wouldn't be as sad if The City of Flickering Destruction wasn't playing for you.

I find myself humming along with some of the songs while playing the game. And I don't do that often, not even with tracks as great as those from the Final Fantasy series.

This game's music can only be described as beautiful and artistic. Anything else would be a lie.

That's gotta be Jungle Japes from Donkey Kong Country(Not smash bros).

But overall, check out Bomberman Hero's soundtrack.

That game had the best music ever.

little miss sunshine,

Holy wow-sauce!!!!!!! You are seriously, and most definitely the greatest ever!!!!!!! Extremely awesome!!!!!!!

I had no idea that other people liked that soundtrack just as much as did (well, I had a general idea, but I would not have considered the game as very popular one...heh...), and the song! THE SONG!!!!!!! That particular song was/is my absolute favorite. It still, until this day, fills the very depths of my soul. Ha-ha! I love it!

Well, the Crystal Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdY34SzSJ1s) from Final Fantasy is one of my faves...

I also love the Super Smash Bros Brawl Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whuZunX8bQo).

And the Savato music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uw_sDgF0e0&feature=related) from Trauma Center...

And, even though I haven't played any Silent Hill games yet, I love Room of Angel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMvOkUMPZ0g).

Technically speaking it isn't a video game, but Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni and Umineko No Naku Koro Ni both have an awesome soundtrack. I'm a fan of dai and zts. You could almost say I bought the games mostly for the music box, but that's not true because the game itself is awesome as well. My current favorites are:

Higurashi:
you (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyCQcfh2L_8)
you destructive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00UcVdar3vc)
being (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVpPnY3H8uw)

Umineko:

Thank You For Being Born (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa5iINJrKD8) (the game uses the piano instrumental version)

ok just so people will stop saying 'the theme from the title screen' for kingdom hearts, the song is called 'Dearly Beloved' and is quite beautiful, i must agree.

the soundtrack from Shadow of the Colossus (also one of my favorite games):
why? did you not play this game? do you not know the sheer epic awsomeness of it? for shame....

im surprised no one mentioned the JSRF OST: come on guys, you cant really tell me you forgot about this one, can you? this is just sad...

hah, i just remembered 'escape from the city' from Sonic Adventure 2. good times...

the OST from Super Mario RPG: the legend of the seven stars is also a really good one.
im glad someone said a legend of zelda game, otherwise i would really be worried; however, its the wrong game. Majora's Mask had a good OST, but im sorry, when it comes to the best music of any Zelda game, it has to be Orcarena of Time.

and also, how could you guys not mention Katamari Damaci? its briliant!!

and although its a pretty recent game (kinda) Okami has a very beautiful soundtrack.

as for silent hill, my favorite track would have to be 'Killing Time'

also, alot of people dont remember, but the original sims has quite possibly the best soundtrack for a pc game ive ever heard

il be back later to rant at what you guys forgot again! :p

The SFIV intro gets me amped right the hell up. Especially when it starts the remix of the original world warrior theme, and -especially- the part after it shows Chun Li and it cuts to Vega in that odd machine/contraption (the one that triggered Ryu's Satsui no Hadou).

I watched it at the gym on my touch while doing cardio, and I almost drop kicked the old lady on the bike in front of me.

They are games to me as far as I'm concerned. If Dating-Sim elements in Persona 3, FES and 4 qualify as a gameplay element, then surely Air, Kanon and Clannad are games too. And "you" is awesome. The piano player here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBkui0HnvX4&fmt=18) is lovely too.

"A sound novel is similar to a visual novel in that the gameplay requires relatively little player interaction as most of the game is composed of text dialogues." (wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni))

My list is in no particular order. Anyway, I really love the music/soundtrack of the following games.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Diddy Kong Racing (N64)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)
Spyro The Dragon (PS1)
Pokemon Puzzle League (N64 and Wii Virtual Console)

My top favorite soundtracks are in bold.

Brawl obviously has an awesome soundtrack, and many other people also love the game's music. So I don't think I need to say that much about it, lol. But personally, my favorite songs from Brawl include: Main Brawl theme (of course), Butter Building (from Kirby), Route 209 (from Pokemon), Road To Viridian City (from Pokemon, Pallet Town/Pewter City), Victory Road (Pokemon, Hoenn), and all other Pokemon songs.

As for Diddy Kong Racing, I think Dave Wise did a really great job with composing the music. I mean, each track in the game has a very catchy beat to go with it. Heck, even the character selection screen has awesome music!! =D

And finally, as for Spyro The Dragon, OMG, I love the music in this game! Each level has really beautiful songs. That game has the best music ever, in my opinion. And Stewart Copeland is an awesome composer!! ^_^
