I've only made on cosplay from scratch and that was my Rukia (shinigami robe) cosplay, just as an idea for my skill level. I've never done big props, a wig, made shoe/shoe modifications, or anything particularly advanced in sewing (except pleats, but those aren't really "advanced"). I will have my contacts by the time of the con (Ikasucon), so glasses/no glasses; it doesn't matter. Will crossplay.
So I'd prefer to cosplay someone who:
- looks somewhat like me (I'll do a wig if I have to, but no gravity-defying or Sailor Moon-long hair preferably)
- has an eye-catchy costume, but something I won't slave over
- doesn't wear skimpy clothing (preferably minimal cleavage, midriff, etc.)
- doesn't have a strange eye color that's important to the character due to cost of contacts (for instance Sasuke from Naruto)
