Torso or Legs?

Weather your tall or not, which part of your body makes you seem taller, your torso[your taller when you sit] or legs[taller when you stand]?

This came up, cuz my friend is short, but when she sits she's taller then a person taller then her, she's got a tall torso yet short legs. Then, I realized I was also taller then my friend who was a few inches taller than me, when we sat down.
So, for me, my torso makes me taller.

I'm pretty short but I'm pretty sure that I'm taller when I stand up. I think my legs are longer, however, the only way to really test this theory would be to set up a chair so that it lines up with your butt. Really, the difference in height between sitting and standing depends on the height of what you're sitting on.
