Polysics: pretty much the Japanese equivalent of Devo, except with an added hyper-modern twist. And if you don't know who Devo is, then maybe this music video might help refresh your memory >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbt30UnzRWw

Actually, I don't understand why not that many people like or have heard of Polysics. They're surely not the best/biggest band out of Japan, but they are indeed very talented musicians that provide a very unique sound. Their music is an interesting combination of new wave, synthpop, and punk; creating a style that is as fun, colorful, and energetic as their live performances. If they ever happen to be passing by your town on a tour, I'd highly recommend you go see them (even if you're not that familiar with their music), they are amazing and sooo much fun! =)

I think most everyone everyone has heard of them. I mean, they aren't exactly the biggest thing in Japan, but certainly one of the biggest bands to ever get popular outside of Japan.

Personally, I'm not really a fan...it's just not my kind of music.

I guarantee that I haven't herd of them, and I'm pretty mainstream alt rock leaning.

Never heard of them. -_-
Although they don't sound like something that I would like, I think I'll check it out. . .

As soon as I read "unique sound", I cringed a bit. I don't like to be challenged by music. Writing, studio art? Sure. But my tastes generally run to the far simple for music. ^^

Either way, I'm going to check it out! :D

The "I My Me Mine" song was pretty insane, both video and music
Its funny though, there's this girl with a backpack that can bend her back to an amazing degree and a male singer who's not even related to the band at all

Very energetic band, but I My Me Mine is the only song I've heard from them ^^;;

Have you listened to Metal Ikka yet? It's a bunch of Japanese bands covering Metallica songs. It's not that bad. A few of them are weak, one or two aren't that good, but there's some good covers on it.

Polysics cover "Enter Sandman". I think their style conflicted a bit too much with the actual song. Didn't turn out all that good in my opinion, but I suppose you should give it a listen yourself.

POLYSICS or DIE!!! is all I can say. I love 'em.

First heard them when I watched a free clip of Bento Beatbox on On Demand. The song was "New Wave Jacket." It's an old song for sure, they weren't even wearing the trademark jumpsuits in the video.

Since then, they've impressed me with their throwback sound and energetic presentation. And they keep getting better and better at that. I love I Me Mine, Tei! Tei! Tei!, Rocket, Catch on Everywhere, Lookin' Lookin' Gaa, and a lot of others. They rock pure and simple.
