Which anime do you think has the best art?

To start I'll put forward the cars from Initial D.

The people are frankly kinda fugly in the series. But the cars are nice. And this came out back in 98.

The anime with the best art in my opinion is 'Persona Trinity Soul'.

Couldn't find a better picture, since I'm at school, but the artwork is amazing in the anime.

I'll have to go with Gankutsuou. Gotta love the trippy colors and textures and such.

Takes a little getting used to, though.

Best animation for me would have to be 'Mononoke'.

The art actually looks like an old painting come to life. I fell in love with the style after just the first 5 minutes.

I know the picture doesn't really do it justice but it's the only one I could find.

some of the very best art quality to be found in Anime will be found in the OVA series "GUNDAM 0083"

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/gdm027.jpg

more examples to be found here: http://www.angelfire.com/gundam/0092/0083/index.htm

but my favorite character design has to be the works of the Manga artist "Minene Sakurano" her best and most famous work being "Mamotte Shugogetten"

Yami, the Hat and the Travelers of the Books. The anime has pretty damn good visuals for a friggin' eroge. It gets sketchy at the end. The manga was alot better.

My friend describes it as "Scary Dr. Seuss"

And the winner iiiis...
Spirited Away!
You have to watch the movie to be able to experience the stunning animation yourself, because there's not enough screencaptures and words to describe it.

Id say pretty much anything done by Key, which would be Air, Kanon, Clannad, and such. I also really like the art direction in Soul Eater, although its not the prettiest ive ever seen, its just different from anything else that ive seen

O.K as an older fan let me put forward Ah! My Goddess the original OVA. Remember there was no fancy CGI when this was made and it still looks good today. Also Akira. Again an old Anime that still looks absolutely superb.

I like the work on Vandread.
The vivid colours and sort of 3D effect on the Vandreads is very eye-pleasing, although they may appear stiff every now and then.

All that are done by Watase Yuu are my favorite. I love how she illustrates the characters to tell the story in many different views. If you look closer to her artworks, you'll notice a story behind each of her artworks.

Yeah, I also liked the art of cars in it but story started to turn pretty lame in the latter series.

Besides it, I liked the art of GITS:2nd GIG and also Hellsing.

The artwork in Hayao Miyazaki films is always superb.
I might be biased, but I always thought the settings for Cowboy Bebop were always pretty good... hitting the sort of realistic science-fiction they were shooting for.
Eureka Seven's visuals are pretty appealing to my aesthetic tastes as well.

I love the style of Loveless and Nabari no Ou.

Clannad.. Of course...

And yea, Soul Eater is way unique.

Code Geass, because we all love Clamp.

Death Note is just beautiful.

And.. I'm sorry, but the art from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.. is... just.. wow. love it!

The anime series' in which I think have the most amazing art are;
Gun X Sword, Code Geass, and Death Note.

Gun X Sword and Code Geass were both animated and designed by my favourite artist, Kimura Takahiro. Death Note was just simply wonderful to watch because of its beautiful animation. When I first watched it I was extremely amazed by the animation.

I also really like the art in some of the Studio Ghibli films, notably Only Yesterday. The reason for that is because the actions and dialogue went so perfectly with eachother and some of the facial expressions they managed to draw were just amazing and humourus (especially Taeko when she is told that people will think she is having her period when being absent for P.E).

Akira, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell and Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. All of them were made in a time when anime was still art hand-drawn by real people, for better or for worse. I'll throw in Cowboy Bebop out of pure personal preference.

As for today, Shinkai Maokoto and Kyoto Animation (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, CLANNAD) are probably the top of the industry in terms of artwork.

In case you're interested, the artist who drew the illustrations of Trinity Blood is called Thores Shibamoto, and she's done some work for the covers of Kikuchi Hideyuki's Bionic Soldier series and the novelization of Devil May Cry 4 as well as few other light novels.
