Okay, honestly, I have no idea where to start about this game. The lower reviews on metacritic complain that this game brings nothing new or innovative to the table (seriously, it's a JRPG, what are you expecting? You guys sure as hell weren't pleased by HAZE innovative gameplay anyways).

Anywho, personally, this is the first Tales of --- game that I've played, so I can't draw any comparisons between the long series. That aside, I completely fell in love with this game within the first hour of gameplay. For better or for worse, it seriously feels like I'm actually actively playing an anime, if you can kind of understand what I mean. The battle system is actually kind of challenging if you're new the system (unlike Eternal Sonata where you can end every fight in one turn on your first playthough), there's incredible character development through in-game sequences called "Skits" where the party interacts with each other (for example, often when you change one of the female character's costume, the party will comment on it), and the story is pretty involving (in the sense that you really feel for the characters, because the plot itself is standard jrpg plot). It's hard for me to explain, but there's a ton of stuff to do in the game, and it's a lot less depressing than Lost Odyssey. Personally, I feel it was worth every cent to buy, roughly 100 hours of gameplay for $60, and second-and-onward playthrough mode available.

So anyone else love this game? I'm still working on my first playthrough (my xbox died last weekend and I'm still waiting for my repairs to get done), and I can't wait to get all the awesome benefits of the Grade Shop on my second playthrough.

P.S. Rita and Repede are overpowered.

I haven't started it yet as i just picked it up yesterday, I'm still working on the new silent Hill, but Tales will definitely get cracked open probably in the morning when i get home from work.

I've played all the previous Tales games so i pretty much now what I'm walking into content-wise, but the big thing that really dazzled me was the level of detail the art developers put in the cel-shaded graphics, it really does look like an anime in real-time.

You should already have one! My prime reason for owning a PS2/PS3 in the first place was in case I ever wanted to play some RPG's, but those are all moving to 360 anyways...

Star Ocean 4, Fable 2, Fallout 3, so on so fourth are going to end up being 360 exclusive.

Plus ToV is awesome.

I'm still waiting for the 360 price cuts to hit Aus. I love Tales games and hopefully this game shall makes its way down here [if it isn't already out].

If it doesn't get banned in your country first! Bwahaha.

Sorry, badly misplaced joke; though i couldn't help but notice that quite a few Ps3 and Xbox360 games are constantly getting banned in Australia due to it's super ridiculous content restrictions.

Hmmm yeah, depending on Australia's stance on sexual innuendo, ToV COULD get banned.

On-topic: I just opened my copy of Tales this morning, the games rich art is simply breath-taking; i actually starting drooling the moment i hit my first battle.

This game may be dangerous though, I've been known to be almost late for work due to games that dragged me in like this one has.
