I like those who are still going to be around in, say, four years from now. Cuts the list down considerably... In particular Ogata Megumi and Nakajima Miyuki.

Aside from those I've been fond of Yaida Hitomi, Akino Arai, Gackt (less popular works usually ^^;), Kuraki Mai, Sakamoto Maaya (also to a lesser degree), Okui Masami, Nanase Aikawa, Onitsuka Chihiro, Urara Takano, Takehito Koyasu, Utada Hikaru, and Nao Takagi (I don't know that she's ever released her own cd, but her voice is AMAZING so who cares? She played Uranus in several musicals.)

Anyway, that's most of the Japanese singers I listen to right there. Others I have are usually one-shot songs I have of one artist or another, liked it, but don't particularly like anything else by them.

Come on, Yoko Ishida sings Towa no Hana, the opening theme of Ai Yori
Aoshi, one of the most beautiful songs ever! She's also VERY popular for
her Para Para remixes, and possesses a radiant personality and the voice of
an angel. Yuki Kajiura did most if not all of the wonderful music for
.hack//SIGN, and L'Arc~en~Ciel is like a Japanese N'Sync, only their music is
actually good.

Figures I'd be a fan of some of the more underappreciated ones. I even
have Yoko Ishida's autograph.

Don't get me wrong, Ayumi Hamasaki (have some of her songs on hand too)
Megumi Hayashibara, and Hikaru Utada are great, too, but let's broaden our
horizons a little, ne?
