The orange box for PC question

So i get the game and i load it up into my PC thinking ehh this will be like every other load i do , should take about like 15 minutes. So it takes an hour and i get back to see what is going on and it is doing stuff with Steam. Is the game downloading itself from Steam? If so, this is just really lame. My wireless internet is terribly slow that i may never get the chance to download this game.


So is this downloading through Steam? And is there the content on the CD so that i can avoid this downloading from Steam?

There's been several updates for the Orange Box games. Those updates are required, so yeah.

My internet is terrible where i am at. right now i am bumming off internetz from the library. As of now it is 350KBS. Portals took me 2 hours to download.

Thats pretty terrible. Not much you can do besides taking your pc to a friends house.

Just leave it on and don't turn it off. Let it download at night.
