Yaoi/Shounen-ai: Yes or no?

I'm personally a yaoi/shounen-ai fan. I'd like to know who else in here is. If you don't like it then please don't go on a rant about it, pleasantly state the reason why.

I see nothing wrong with it, it depends on what you like. It is actually quite a popular topic amongst manga. I havent read any yet, I don't wanna get into any advanced romances. I like action, anyway. Plus, Shonen-Ai guys are hot. AND (added bonus) it's double the hottnes.

I'm not a fan of the genre, but I have reason to believe I'm fairly heterosexual so that's to be expected. I don't have any beef with yaoi/shounen-ai itself since a large number of males indulge in drawings of bishoujo, including myself, and it would be kind of like the pot calling the kettle black if I disapproved.

However, a lot of the situations and storytelling in BL tend to be even more outlandish than typical bishoujo fare bordering on outright stupid because of the unlikelihood of a coupling actually occuring. In short, like any other genre in any medium, there are a few quality works with a good plot and a plethora of utter garbage.

Just to make it clear...it's not illegal...it happens in reallife as well..It's just that they choose a guy over a girl...that doesn't make it illegal...
But if you can convince someone from the government or something to make it illegal, I'll go with you=.=" yeah..

For me, I think it's nothing wrong, and yaoi is supposed to be like that*you have to understand that yaoi is a bit more hardcore than BL/Shounen-ai. So ,don't watch it if you feel really uncomfortable with it...some people get really sick of it....but I think it's ok ...nothing wrong...It's just like falling in love with someone but it's just that they are of the same gender....

Yaoi inherently will have horrible plots with characters acting totally out of character. They tend to do the predictable "closet exit" stuff. I guess it's more effective to get wapan girls hot, but I don't see why normal hentai can't achieve this.

I like neither. They are much too soft and pathetic, as much as anything having to deal with romance. And, being a male, I cannot see the appeal. It's not the fact that it deals with homosexuality, but I can't see why people like it. I would actually prefer more homosexual characters in a serious anime/manga. But I wouldn't like their sexual orientation or love interests to be the main plot. It'd be nice to see a gay giant robot pilot doing battle with a gigantic monster that threatens human civilization or a gay ninja slaying armies of hopeless soldiers that are protecting their territory.

:unsure: I'm sorry but I must correct...... Descendants of Darkness states in book one (runs off to room to check) page 69 and I quote "this isn't a yaoi comic". :closedeye

Anyway, after saying that, I LOVE YAOI!!!!!! When i turned 18 i had a BLAST getting stuff at cons.
I love BL, yaoi, shonen ai, all of it!!!! I have anime of it, manga of it, dojinshi of it, pc games of it etc. Not all of it is dirty smut stuff too, there are many that have great plot, Sukisho, Ai no Kusabi, Yellow they have great plot. Some are just down right dirty though. :D makes me happy.
And there are a who range of plots, any of the guys here know what kendo is? Kizuna(as stated) is a yaoi with the characters being very manly like, and just happen to like eachother!;)

If you like that, there's a genre of yaoi called "bara". Bara features masculine men if that's what you want.
