I just finished Japanese 2, and I think I'm ready to start reading some Japanese books. I'm not talking about novels of course XDD! So I'm asking for some children's books or very simple manga recommendations. Because, in all honesty, I know none. I'm already getting ドラえもん, but I just need more than that.

This is the right place for this, right o_o?

ドラえもん is definitely a good place to start. I'm starting with that too.

I also picked up a copy of Japanese Grimm's Fairy Tales in Japan. I found it at Movix near Shijo station (the area was called Teramachi I think) in Kyoto. If you can find it there, I got the second volume (the 下 one) which has Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Little Red Riding Hood, among others.

ertai made a good point- get stories that you know already. That way, you can focus on the words and grammar without having to worry so much about the content.

Well, I kind of want to get books I don't know, so that I can get the accomplished feeling that I can read and understand it. I want to be able to say that I can read Japanese books. But I'll see if I can find those books too :3. I do love fairy tales.

ok, in that case, look for something called "graded readers". These are a type of book series that are based on certain language abilities at different levels. I use them in my English classes and they work well. There are also different series out there.

I did a quick google search and came up with this (http://www.thejapanshop.com/home.php?cat=344).

edit: project gutenberg has some books in Japanese too: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/languages/ja
