Hey all.

Okay, I've finally finished a set using GIMP after some self-teaching and here it is;

Feedback and comments are much appreciated :)

For a first attempt, not too bad. For subsequent sigs though, it'd be nice to bring the focus on the character a lot more. On this sig, the eyes just go straight to the text, which isn't always a bad thing if you want that effect, but doesn't work too good for this one. Still, good try. Hope to see more.^^

Thanks Kuro :)

Here's another one, this time it is the Forbidden;

um.. even though I'm not really good at judging, I think for your second sig, you should make the render's edge more smoother.. and uh.. I think you should move the render to that light part on your background to make your render stands out.. other than that it's pretty good.. oh! you should try to add a border, I think it will look nicer ^^

Thanks Goody :)

I'm still a newbie, so how do you make the render smoother and have a border?

Okay, here's another one; Throne Gundam Drei from 00 -

I know I should put borders, but I kinda like it without a border :)

Your last is a bit to light make it a bit darker and work at your text effects.

Thanks Suzuka :)

Okay, here's some more siggies I made today -

And here's another set;

Once again, feedback and comments are helpful :)

It would be nice if the text font was different and that it had an effect on it ^_^

Well done Red!!~~

03-23-2008, 03:32 AM
i like colors of the 3rd one nice^^!

Your sigs are too empty. Try adding some brushes. Also to make the lensflare look a little more realistic you should softbrush some parts with black (opposite from where the light is) and lower the opacity and/or set to softlight.

Yeah, I still need to learn, Meg. Uh, maybe you could kind of teach me how to do that?

I deleted the Auel Neider set and the Forbidden sig 'cause they were crap.

03-23-2008, 11:00 PM
how can you say they are crap?? they are your first tries!! they can't be really good can they..?? I like your last ones!! you've really improved!! try to make more sigs with ppl next time okay??

Yay! Awesome works from Red! *claps*
I really like the Drei sig - it is by far my favorite. The colors are all very nice together behind the extract, and the image is well extracted. It also blends well into the background. I really like the light flare in the front on this one - it adds depth to the sig.
Perhaps add something on the right side of the sig - you may want to start adding brushes and smudging when you become more comfortable with the program.
I also like the set with the bunny girls - the left side looks very nice. Perhaps add some additional text or effects to bring out the left some more? Awesome sigs for your first tries! XD

Thanks Mira :)

I've kinda decided just to focus on making avatars now; since they're easy to do. I'll come back to making siggies at some point in time, I hope.

Alrighty then, here's my first shot at a userbar...

Tell me what you think...

03-27-2008, 02:36 AM
hm, try using Visitor as the font. Its the basic and quite easy to read ;D and this is just optional, but move the extract a bit more upwards.

good try!

Thanks Unli :)

I'll take that advice onboard and make some more on the weekend.

And moving the extract up? I'd get rid of his eyes by doing that.

Nice sigs! I love Mecha sigs, Just a few things I'd like to say is, work on the background with colors of the image that you are using, and use them to blend it in in some weird way, always makes Mecha sigs stand out that way ^_^
