These are from the fansubbed version.
I wouldn't bother posting them if they weren't significantly different from the ones already posted.

even if I change from my sailor uniforms = it's me
how's the weekends?
it's common to show off a glimpse!
uniforms are easy = they're comfortable

Uh.

There are logistically many reasons why we don't put up fansub translations on AL.com... from crediting to accuracy, everything points to a no.

Yeah, especially with this song, I got the feeling with the fansub translation that if they couldn't figure something out they just made something up. Not that I really blame them too much.

...Yeah...that's what fansubbers often do (I can tell, don't ask why)..
I liked the old times when a translator still added a note when he had problems understanding a phrase or stuff...
But today I don't see this anymore (admitted I usually watch anime without subtitles in the vain hope I understand it ^^°)...seems to be seen as unproffesional or something...

Frankly I hate what the scene has become, that's not what fansubs where supposed to be initially...

Sorry for being off-topic...

I agree. ...Well, I can't exactly say that, because I'm not quite old enough to remember what the fansub community 'used to be', but I know what you mean about fansubbers. They seem to have to pretend they know everything about Japanese because if they don't all the fans will leave them for so-and-so fansubs that's better at faking knowing everything, and so on.

I especially get irritated with translations of opening and ending themes on fansubs. I understand why they're rushed or w/e, because fansubbers these days have to be quick and have the newest episode done by that week... but some translations and transliterations on fansubs are just plain horrible (School Rumble Ni Gakki comes to mind) and it kinda leaves me scratching my head.

With the dialogue *usually* being translated so well, what's up with the song lyrics being so bad? It really almost seems to me that fansubbers these days purposefully grab the worst translator they can find to do opening and ending themes.

Though as I've said before, I honestly don't blame the Lucky Star fansubbers, because this song is hell to translate and if they had tried to be perfect on it people would still be waiting for LS fansubs to come out. Very few other series' have this excuse. It just leaves people like me frustrated when a bunch of people with inaccurately translated fansub lyrics come to the forum and try to correct the lyrics on the site. :p

Rizuchan, it's obvious:

1. Anime theme songs' single CDs are always sold later than the anime's airing time. So they don't have any resources (i.e. CD scans) yet.

2. Translating songs are very different than translating dialogue. It's a case of speech vs written vocabulary that holds the same in any language; words used in speech are less complicated than words used in writing, and usually songs use written vocabulary.

Some of my fansubber friends have said to me that they actually don't fancy translating songs and would rather t/l anime... I know where they're coming from I guess.

As for the first point- that's another good reason no to take lyrics from fansubs to the site...^^°

As for second, from my personal view, I agree with the first sentence, the rest depends on the focus of what you have learned (Eg. =If your classes focus more on written language that part would be easier to do).

As for the rest, I must say I find it easier (or at least not as tedious) to translate opening/ending theme than translating Episode dialoque, for you can be more 'free' in terms of carrying meanings over to another language rather than literal infomation, of cource depending on the song...
But that's my view, and probably some have a diffenrent viewpoint on this :P

So they don't have any resources (i.e. CD scans) yet. Most of the anime I watch has the lyrics on screen, so that's not a problem. I don't blame translators that have to do it by ear, that wouldn't be fair, but I wasn't very particular about it in my little rant, I suppose. :p

I didn't mean to sound like I was getting on fansubbers for being incompetent. I am certainly not one to judge them. I could never do it; I can't process Japanese in my head fast enough yet to really translate diologue. Maybe someday...

To be more specific, what I meant was, thinking back on fansubs I've watched most frequently, I remember one where all the romaji lyrics were crammed together with hardly any spaces... I know that's not technically incorrect, but it just seems like, even whether they learned Japanese in a class or online, someone would have suggested they space some things out for neatness' sake. And there was another that bothered me because they kept missing a bunch of words and having bizzare translations because of it. I understand that someone that's used to translating dialogue would be more prone to doing something like that, but I guess I just wish they'd take some time to be accurate rather than rushing to get it done. But then, I'm obviously rather anal about translations, too. :banghead:

>Most of the anime I watch has the lyrics on screen
Nope, some don't. In fact a lot don't. Or I haven't watched anime much lately.

I guess it's based on WHO is translating it I guess. Fansubs have their own politics and whatnot, and an astute fansub watcher would know if one group does quicksubs or qualsubs, who are the staff behind them etc.
