Yup. I figured we could do this again and people would actually use it.

Pretty much you can consider this thread a little part of miscellaneous in Fan Fiction.

However, usual things apply. Don't swear, don't be a butthole, and um... yup.

You can use this thread for anything! Whining about how your day went, talking about fanfiction ideas, the fanfic contests, poetry contests, ask me questions about the rules, or general random questions, blahblah.

Anything!

So like, get to using it punks!

Ive been thinking about doing a few fan fictions about some of my favorite movies, but then I realize that Im far too lazy to actually do so.

Fanfics for movies? That's kinda a good idea. What movie? I've never written fanfics though. I'm more interested in original fictions. My sister says that most people like fanfiction and I'm weird.

I'm stuck on Zelda Phantom Hourglass, I'm at the end but I'm so damn bored with the ending. I want all the golden ship parts!

I finally finished another chapter on my novel. I doubt I'm even halfway though... I edited it and added almost 4 pages, but then I also edited out at least one!

I have to write and illustrate a childrens book as a final project for one of my classes, I should post in the fanfic section when I start.

Also, I'm going to love this thread.

Also, why doesn't anyone freakin pm me? Am I not good enough? I don't get any pms ev-er.

Oh yeah, and me and Maru keep texting eachother stupid crap and it is fun. We never really have anything to say though other than "OMG I TEXTED J00!!"

Take my Fiction, for example: I've only posted up to chapter 3, but I've actually written up to chapter 21. I'm just too friggin' lazy to type it out, since I wrote it on notebook paper.

This is why I don't write very often. =/

This is why I don't write very often. =/Yeah, that tends to be the hardest part at times. It took me a good week before I figured out what I wanted the names of my main characters to be. THEN it came to naming all the different locations that they travel, and make it seem convincing.

Once you do it once, though, it just seems to happen naturally afterwards.

There's always the option of just imagining what you want, then take the adjectives' letters, and mix them into something that you think fits the city. Same for the characters.

My birthday cake is delicious but I must not eat anymore. Its all chocolate.

Now that I am twenty years old the first thing that went through my mind was "Have I accomplished anything besides survival?", "Have I done anything with this life that is worth anything yet?", "Will I do anything worth anything?" As long as I can keep those thoughts out of mind I can continue on without losing interest. Unlike I did on my Youtube account... no more mass produced idiocy from me for a while.

You just reminded me that my stomach hurts... I hate cramps. Arghh... I guess thats what I get for not eating healthy. But if I eat healthy I put on weight. Damn you genetics and my lack of metabolism...

Hmm... I am still debating if I want to enter the february fiction contest. But on a good note I figured out a key point in the plot that I just love. The question remains "How to make it work?"... *sigh*

Is it illegal to leave a link to a site where you can look up the meaning of names? Let's hope not...

There's a site called 20000names where they have categories of cultures and then meanings of different names. It's pretty helpful to look it up when the adjectives aren't working out. Here's the link: http://www.20000-names.com/

Ah, finally I've got time to participate in here.

As Dorian said, do be careful with the scammers and material poachers. Also, don't be afraid of what people will say about the poem. What matters is what you think in the end. The fact that it will be published is already quite an accomplishment. Anyway, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Views for poems are far more subjective than those for stories I think. So I wouldn't be surprized for the feedback to be mixed even if your poetry was great.

Ugh, its so late but I don't want to go to sleep because I have so much I want to pen down. Time sucks >_<

Naturally, the first thing I asked was "Can it be any topic?". She said yes, so I wrote a satirical essay on the pro-life side of abortion. I even had to request her to leave the door open and to move my seat next to the door, just in case I had to bolt to get away from the angry mob. It was pretty bad. xD

One thing that is so dum, when thinking about "A Modest Proposal", is that when we read the story in school, so many actually thought that is was for "real" and not satire. Those poor souls! :D hihi* You should have seen their face-expression when I read it loud for my class!

My timidity will be my downfall I tried for a solo in the high school chorus then got so nervous I was shaking in my shoes and I sounded horrible. Yeah I thought about that, but in toy fantasy the toys seem to be able to move independently no matter what, the batteries just do things like make lights flash and sounds while the kid is playing with them.

But I'm constantly changing my ideas, and I've already tossed that one out the window.

So far, I have symptoms from depersonalisation to quadriplegia (among other innapropriate symptoms that I threw in to make the kinky seniors laugh.) But I can only say all of them in a minute and a half presentation. ;_; At least I have two weeks or something around there.

My idea of fanfiction is really broad. It's not all that fun to limit the term to only anime, and even though I loved the book as well, I wanted to make a story that went against two of its themes: the impossibility of the American dream and fraternity/idealized male friendship.

The reason why I'm hesitant is because I made a female character whose purpose is to show George that even though he had to let Lennie and the dream of the farm go, he won't ever have to drift from job to the next alone. I also wanted to go against the adversity that I read towards the women and have my character attempt to surpass the level of "Mary-Jane."

Now I've got all this figured out, but the female character's giving me hell trying to find a good name...>.<

Making her flawed should ensure she isn't a Mary-Jane ^_~ I think people become too caught up in trying to keep their original characters "in character," and forget to make them lifelike. A typically "good" person, who has a high sense of morals and knows right from wrong can still commit a crime without being out of character. They just require believable motivation for doing so. That's key.

In my opinion, fanfiction covers a work inspired by another media source (book, television show, movie, etc.) that contains key elements from that media (usually characters, but also often theme, plot, and setting).

This is a cool thread, although I'm finding it hard to restrain myself from telling baby jokes.

I've been busy writing and re-writing a particular scene, and it's getting annoying. SO annoying that I began to feel that the Universe had a grudge against me, or that my sense of perfectionism would forever sabotage me until I died a bitter, twisted old woman.
So I took a day off, and just sat around reading. It was interesting that after yelling at the Universe ("Just give me a break, already!") I ended up reading something about a poet who had lost his ability to write poetry. In the end, he discovered it was because he had lost the WORDS stored up inside himself. It was like a minor epiphany to me. I've been so busy writing, I haven't been storing up words inside myself.
I've decided to take at least a day a week to experience the creative works of other people in some way. I think I've been way too immersed in my own stuff.
So I suppose the Universe doesn't have it in for me?

Also, I have a new puppy. He's tiny, and cute. :D

I don't think there's anything wrong with inserting an original character in theory. In practice, it often isn't done well. Most of the worst are featured as the main character, and have Mary Sue qualities because the author is depicting his or her self in a perfect, flawless form. Some of the best I've seen are not main characters. I honestly think that not making the original character the focus of the story will make them easier to write. Less time on them means less time the author is tempted to showcase their every gift, make them the center of every conversation. Now, that isn't to say that a side inserted character can't be written poorly, or a main inserted character can't be written well. Of course that happens, and all falls on the shoulders of the author.

To sum up I'll say that the best way to avoid creating a Mary Sue is to make the character as human as possible. Humans aren't perfect. We have flaws, we have ambitions, we have motives. We don't always act in precisely the way even we or others expect, but we also tend to follow our own nature as we see fit. A character is only "out of character" when they fail to act human, when they fail to act the way their desires, personality, and conscience would suggest. If the action the author wants a character to take strays far from their norm, there must be valid reasons for them acting in that way. If there isn't, they are out of character.

I love to ramble, but I hope that helped somewhat ^^

I've been working on a poem. Or maybe a song. Depends if I can get some friends who will play along. I already made the music for two guitars. I just need to drag out my drum set and get that piece figured out. Then work with the poem, tweak the music and "viola!". Song.

Its going to take me a while still but if I perform it at a local arts collective. I'll definitely record it and post it on YT, and make a emo version with just me and send it to Ai for the poetry corner on youtube. ><

-Sigh of relief- You worried me for a bit..I thought I scared you away or something with my last post! Dx But what you wrote has definitely helped, so thank you!

It's expensive, especially the mixer board. But don't buy the cheapo crap microphones at wal-mart. If you can find an N64 microphone that comes with "hey you pikachu" that works better than any microphone I've ever bought from walmart.

You see this is what I hate about video game censoring. They say it gives kids false realities and such with all the killing, blood and bodies disapearing. Sure, it does but taking out what happens in real life doesn't help either. It only adds to the falseness. It's like "Hey, I can bash a guy over the head with a sledge hammer. He won't bleed and it only knocks him out."

Course, I would love to hear about a kid who tried to catch some wild animal with a little white and red ball, by throwing rocks at it and gets mauled by a bear or something. That would so flip the industry.

I'm not saying violence and gore is cool or bad, but damn. Its getting lame. Its like a false utopia... Oh and isn't school supposed to prepare you for the real world?

Daenerys

Dude, blood isn't school appropriate?

Then football should now be flag football. Violence is bad, so lets remove it all. Cheerleaders have to wear skirts to their knees, girls cannot have hair shorter than their shoulders, boys cannot have long hair, no un natural hair color, no piercings, no tattoos, in fact, lets have them all wear uniforms. now there's nothing to fight about and everyone looks the same.

soccer isn't okay because it promotes violence, wrestling is not removed from schools because it also promotes violence, and you're not allowed to read about any wars where people died.

Our school must be communist I don't understand half of what our principal does. We're currently appealing to the higher ups for blood but the project is due pretty soon so I'm guessing it will be bloodless and sucky...*sigh*

Alias-Revolution
03-31-2008, 04:21 PM
Indeed. The level of adult control in the schools has risen far beyond what it should be. I beleive that the higher-ups in the schools are restricting us so much that we are learning what is in the textbooks, and not what is in the world. We are being educated, not taught. They no longer teach what the real world is all about.

It's all a part of the grand scheme.

Being rather particular, aren't we Ai? My point remains. The schools fail to teach us what we need to get through daily life. Sure the information they cram into our head is useful, but they no longer show kids how to motivate themselves, and they no longer instill moral values into their educational proceedings.

I am responsible for these shenanigans.

My school counselor spoke in the third person. "Ms. Viars thinks your not cut out for that." She never spoke one feel-good thing too me. She screwed me out of my advanced diploma by sticking me in some dumb classes I already took and classes that wouldn't help me achieve an advanced diploma. And any chance of getting some type of scholorship... I hope she chokes on the vowels in her name.

I suffered humiliation yesterday, if that makes you feel any better.

Tale of Woe: Episode 1
Scene 1
Me: Hey, guys! Guess what! My braces are coming off today! (This is set from yesterday)
Group: Oh, that's great! Good luck! Can't wait to see them off!

Scene 2, dentist's office
Dr. J: Well, since we haven't seen you since August of '07, you'll have to keep these babies on 'til August of '08.
-Thunder sound effects-
Me: ...Are you sure...?
[Dr. J nods] Yep! Oh, and we'll have to put spacers between your molars and wisdom teeth.
Me: ... Will that hurt?
Dr. J: It shouldn't...
[Assistant walks over with floss and spacer] Open wide! [Starts putting it in, but with no luck] Oh! This is a hard one, isn't it?
Me: [writhing in pain]
Assistant: Oh, you'll feel better by next week. Now, what colors would you like for your brackets?
Me: [mouth full of gloved hands and floss] ;ojsfksdg;ijkkjhflasdajfoe
Assistant: Pink it is! [continues to tug at my mouth until the spacer is in]

Scene 3, next day: school once more and in Theology class
Group: Hey, why are your cheeks kinda swollen?
Me: T_T Shut...up...
Teacher: Okay, would you guys like to have hosts?
Group: Cool! Mini-Jesuses!! --I swear I'm not exaggerating; one of the kids in the class actually said it--
[Teacher hands out the hosts, I bite into one and it immediately hurts my teeth.]
Me: Ow...!
Kid: Haha, Jesus doesn't like you.

THE END

... -Cough- Anyway, have you visited a doctor yet?

Public high school school isn't a democracy; it's a dictatorship. Typically, you're taught by some arrogant idiot who thinks that because they have a teaching degree they're better than you. You should respect them completely even if you don't agree with them or if they're wrong because they are "authority". You can be punished for speaking your mind and students will actually believe the pseudo-bullcrap teachers claim to be "fact" when it is simply a reflection of their own opinions and personal perspectives. In high school you deal with a excessive amount of immaturity and narrow-mindedness. If it isn't in the textbook, don't trust it and always question Authority.

Daenerys

When someone who has MODERATOR under the name tells people to stop a discussion or being idiots, it means stop.

This isnt miscellaneous where you can flame anyone you want, and start a debate. This is fanfiction. Just because this thread is MISCELLANEOUS and there is no topic, it doesn't mean you can troll. The subject ended a few pages ago.

I am getting tired of kids coming in here and giving me sass and posting off topic, spamming, and swearing.

I'm going to infract you, I dont care what rule you break, you're getting an infraction. I try to be cool, I try to let people slide when they break the rules, but SO MANY PEOPLE ARE DOING IT, more than once, more than twice, more than THREE TIMES.

I'm going to start warning you, to stop breaking the rules, stop trolling and stop spamming and swearing. You try to take advantage of the fact that I said I was going to lay off the infractions, but seriously. If you spam so much your rep is incredbily high, what else am I to do? You dont listen when I bad rep, verbally warn, PM....

So infractions must be next.

Fabala

A Nazi? That's ridiculous.

Anywho, someone please tell me which of these I should start on first because I can't decide ;__;

1.) The Hook story (pre-Peter Pan from Hook's perspective).
2.) The French modernized Little Red Riding Hood story with a twist.
3.) Battered woman and her daughter story, also with a bit of a twist.
4.) Two women on an airplane (can't give that one away XD) story.
5.) Woman fearing her husband's return home because she doesn't want to hear what he has come to discuss.
6.) Girl who believed her lies story.

Er, I know I have more ideas floating around, but they're either escaping me now or not solid enough for me to consider offering. Please, someone just pick the first one that somewhat appeals to you. I can't promise I'll finish it first, but I need to start somewhere.

Azel. I'm going to give you an infraction.

First off allow me to explain something.

When I make a general post, not naming names. It's because there are several different people breaking rules and picking on them each by name is kind of mean.

When I make a general forum post, listing off things you should not do, it is usually a friendly reminder. These general posts are a reminder for everyone who posts, and are not considered a warning.

But you refusing to even follow the rules of this forum make me realize you are not a positive addition to this site.

If you wish to further drag this topic off thread, there is a thing called private messages. Not the public forum to insult me and call me names. I do not appreciate you further dragging this thread off of the general topic (Which I know, doesnt have a topic, but bringing it back to negative topics after I deleted your rediculous post = a warning).

I'm going to send you an infraction now, and if you continue posting rude messages in this thread, you'll get another.

And as for Sunday school everytime we have it our teacher asks at the beggining: "What happened that was good this week?" and almost no body answers the first few minutes then everybody answers at th same time. Then she asks: "What happened that was bad this week?" and no body answers that at all. And we are apparently "graded" for showing up at the Sunday School's concerts that they give. Yeah, I believe the term is Pederasty. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pederast)

Like, his schoolmaster before him did with him, and so he in turn did it as well, and it's like tradition. Although for the sake of not making him a child molester, I do believe she meant it more in the egalitarian sense.

I wish I knew how to write fan fiction. SOMEONE TEACH ME!

procrastinator_zerokiryuu
04-15-2008, 12:24 PM
... okay..

err... ideas on fanfiction... (darn) I have no ideas... I have writer's block.. *sigh*

I do plan on writing another one-shot fic for La Corda D'Oro... but it's H-A-R-D... I wish I could pry my brain open and just shove all the knowledge down there...

oh yeah... and something happened today... one of our boarders left the house because my brother said that she was going to steal out instant noodles... O_O... He said he was joking, but she says she was reaaaally hurt... -_- ... she's kind of shallow if you ask me... and then she just packed her bags and went off without even saying anything... *sigh*..

*gasp* oh, did I just type all those things... silly me... :P

---- shutting up after some senseless babbling....

what is a original fiction?
Anyway...it's not really easy to find a website that only for fiction of animes.

Daenerys
04-26-2008, 01:59 PM
Yeah, it's even harder to find GOOD fiction of animes.... Hawhawhaw.

Original Fiction is like a story you write, that's not based on anything else, maybe based on things that happen in your life, or such of that nature. It's something that is 100 percent from your mind and your thoughts.

Besides rolling ideas around in my head I haven't done much recently entertaining wise. But I did find these and think of Ai.

Um. What is the best perspective to write a story from? First person, third person, etc.?

I always change it back and forth. Sometimes I'll be like "She blah blah" or I'll be like "I blah blah'd"

There is no "best" in the sense that one is inherently superior to the other. Each have their merits (as does the often looked-over second person ^^), but generally one or the other is going to be best-suited to telling a particular story in a particular fashion.

What is your story about? Do you have one character you can follow intimately to tell it from, or maybe two or three (I'd avoid using more than that in first person)? First person is really great for dissecting a particular character. It's probably my favorite because I love to analyze characters.

I'll be using third person for several of the stories I have waiting in the wings, some because I've decided the first person "voice" doesn't suit, and some because I have simply too many characters to cover to be able to use anything else. I don't find it quite as intimate as first person, but it can still offer plenty of character studying, through actions, thoughts, or even speech.

Now if you're like I am sometimes and still really can't decide, pick one and start writing the story in it. See how it feels. Write, say, the first chapter. Then rewrite the first chapter in the other "voice." Seems like a lot of a extra work, but you're almost 100% sure to be able to pick one by the end.

-Sniffle- I got lost on my way over here! Can't believe I haven't posted for a month..

SO! I saw Mary Poppins and nearly fell off my parents' bed when I saw that the old banker man Sr. guy was Dick Van Dyke. And I also just found out that Hillary Clinton and the song "I Want It Now" makes for a brilliant video.

Fabala
05-11-2008, 05:44 PM
Oh Dick Van Dyke XD What a character.

Have you seen "Diagnosis Murder?" Or, as my brother and I fondly retitled it, "Dr. Death." What else would one call a hospital that experiences a murder every week, without fail, and always surrounding one particular doctor?

Do what I do. Write in bits and peices. Although I can't call it professional. I'll write the story from start to finish. But I'll only do peices, parts or paragraphs every so often. As I progress all I have to do is read the last page I wrote to remember where I left off. Depending on time it takes me a year, a month or maybe a week. Just be sure if something sticks out that you really like or would be great for it, write it down.

Get bored with one or get stressed just switch to the other, instead of focusing on just one.

Fabala
05-11-2008, 09:54 PM
Oh I do that already. In fact, I rarely write in anything close to chronological order >.> One time I wrote the ending first, then part of the middle, then the beginning, then the rest of the middle. More normally I write the middle first, then the beginning, and finally the end.

I also MUST decide how I want a story to end before I can start it. It doesn't have to end up ending the way I planned (and often doesn't), but I must have an idea before I start. >.> I love endings...

That'll be something we say we're "gonna do" and never "do it".

I've got a lot of things I want to do, like the gig I never did up at that artsy place. But I'm kind of caught between helping an independent film maker, loving on my gf =x(which helps me more than anything), and some minor personal/financial issues at the moment.

And I'm going again tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that. Blegh! Why do tardies have to be a penalizing factor for end of course exam exemptions anyway? >.<

Nifty. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us. ^^

As soon as I find the copy of the script I wrote a few years back, I'll edit to where its pg-13-ish and, slap it on here. Some parts I wrote for people have moved away. Help is just too hard to find. I know at one point during planning the main character gets assaulted by 10 people. It was going to be two people playing all of them. Then there was explosions and gas is just way too expensive now. Basically too many real life details/points in the story kept changing as I was editing the rough draft.

BTW Post #154 I so totally called it. :P

Writing discussions, a contest (as soon as Aies gets back and finishes hers ;p), lots more writing challenges. All kinds of stuff. I think Aies is going to run another round robin or something when she gets back. Dunno.

Haha, yeah. If we can't get our own things done, how did we ever think we could see each other getting stuff done?

Beat me back into shape. Consider it a practice run for use against noobs and trolls.

I finally wrote the intro for the story I talked about in my blog.(Took me long enough, huh?) "Anarchist's Reign". Expect another slump in writing and many more cases of writer's block because of "life" and all those neat things that come with it before I actually finish the first chapter.

As soon as I get a camera I'll do some more poetry reading. Geez... Every post I have in this thread usually has a paragraph me going "as soon as", "If I feel like it", or something of that effect... I'm not a lazy fat guy... I swear...
